  • What's New for 1993

A driver airbag is now standard on all Legacys. Touring wagons and LSi wagons were introduced in 1992 as upscale versions of the Legacy. Commendably, antilock brakes are now standard on all Legacys except the L models. Several new trim levels of the Legacy are available for 1993. Based on the L wagon, these models are geared to appeal to different groups of outdoor enthusiasts such as skiers, beachcombers and campers. The standard equipment lists of these models reflect the differences in their target market, such as heated seats and a ski rack on the Alpine model.

Tough overall, some weak points

Vehicle: 1993 Subaru Legacy LS 4dr Sedan

Got it used from a friend back in 2000 with 78K miles, now has 152 k on it. Great engine, no problem tranny, fantastic ignition, never failed to start in coldest Chicago and Boston winters, nor does it fail in the hot humid Miami summers. Drive 500 miles a week, including nonstop 160 mile trips. Nice smooth ride. Okay, problems - ABS unit cracked back in 2002. Slow leak of brake fluid requires refilling either every week or once a month. CV joints chronic. Other stuff maintenance based.

Vehicle: 1993 Subaru Legacy LS 4dr Sedan

It is hard to believe that the automobile technology 10 years ago was this good. My legacy has almost 130000 miles and it's still running like new. I still drive this on 300 - 500 mile trip regularly. And I don't get bothered by any kind of weather situations. Love this car!
