1993 Subaru Justy 2 Dr STD Hatchback
Review
FWD, 5 speed, 4 wheel independent suspension, huge cargo capacity relative to size. A light, responsive, nimble blast to drive anywhere except freeways (boring). Great fun to drive rally style in rain and snow! Kumho replacement tires made it great year-round. It's 2005 and my 1993 (always in Northern Ohio) has NO rust! ONLY weak point - the seal between engine and transmission that seems to fail about every 50,000 miles. If only someone sold cars like this in America!
Favorite Features
4 wheel independent suspension. 5 speed. Huge flat floor cargo area. No power assist on steering = superior road feel. Handling/slalom/lane changing/tossability incredible AND on 165/R13 tires. Great external vision - NO blind spots. Rugged exterior, livable interior.
Suggested Improvements
Kumho tires increased wet weather driveability 1000%. Sound system was weak (no good place to mount rear speakers). Seal between engine and transmissions failed 5 times on 3 Justy's I owned (1989, 1991, 1993). Looking at $1,000 repair in 2005 prices.
