2006 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Special Edition 4dr Wagon AWD (2.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I traded in a Land Rover and I am ecstatic about my new Subie! The gas mileage alone makes me want to drive more. I customized it with my Yakima rack system and a few stickers and it is now ready for the trek across the country. I can't wait for the drive.
Favorite Features
Driving around corners. The pep!
Suggested Improvements
Stock sunroof.

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Limited 4dr Wagon AWD w/Off-Black Int. (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5M)
Review
This car is a kick in the pants to drive. I've had it for 3 months, and it's been nothing but pleasurable. Performance wise, the car has a lot of power, and is very nimble; cornering is fun, as is taking it on a windy road. The build quality is good, but I've noticed a few rattles. The clear plastics that cover the gauges and stereo scratch a little too easily, so be careful. Minor annoyances aside, it's a great car at a great price point. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this car to anyone.
Favorite Features
Performance wise, I couldn't ask for more. And the 6-CD changer is great. I also love the heated leather seats, and the sunroof. I got the cargo bin for the back, and that is really nice too. It keeps all my junk from rolling around when I'm doing some "spirited" driving.
Suggested Improvements
Clear plastics shouldn't scratch so easily. iPod/MP3 minijack input. Some of the interior plastics seem to scuff up easy too, which I noticed around the seatbelt mount on the drivers left shoulder. I guess it must be from where I grab the seatbelt.
Fun little critter...

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX 4dr Wagon AWD (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5M)
Review
I have barely had the WRX Wagon long enough to break it in. The mix of strong performance, great handling, full time all wheel drive, large brakes, lots of front seat head room, adequate back seat room for two, a wagon tail end (with no sacrifice to handling or speed) is very attractive for a car priced in the low to mid-twenties. The new 2.5L motor gives better around town drivability than the previous motor and gives great 'get out of my way' acceleration. ;-)
Favorite Features
Ample head room in front. Great seats that catch me where I need it. Great acceleration, handling, and braking.
Suggested Improvements
Fuel economy is not great. The power curve is strong, but a little lumpy as RPMs climb. This may smooth out as the car wears in a little.
What a great car...

This is such a great car! I have been looking for an all-around performer that is easy on the wallet and this is it. I don't know of any other cars in which you get a four door, turbo charged, all wheel drive, reliable, and super fun ride for around $23,000. I test drove a 2005 WRX last summer and was sorely disappointed. Way too much turbo lag. The 2006 virtually eliminates that problem and you have more choices. I love that this car is a "stealth speeder" without the spoiler too. This car has a great ride and handles well. I actually get decent gas mileage too (25-27 regularly). I highly recommend at least a test drive as I was completely blown away with the 2006!
Favorite Features
The power is great. I like the shifter too. It is really nice to not have a spoiler (aka: cop bait) on the back too. I like the seats (I may be alone on that one). The price was sweet too. $23,000 is a not unusual price for a TR model WRX.
Suggested Improvements
The radio is a little cheapish. I worry that I will burn through tires quickly as it is easy to drive fast through the mountain roads I travel on for fun!

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Limited 4dr Wagon AWD w/Off-Black Int. (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5M)
Review
I came over to Subaru from the VW GTI looking for improved build quality and AWD grip. My first Subaru was a 2005 Legacy GT... a very comfortable, fast, luxury sedan. It was a bit too big for me and didn't offer much utility. The Limited WRX wagon has it all for me. Great AWD performance and handling, decent fuel economy, incredible utility, nice looks and solid construction. The biggest drawback is road noise. If you want a quiet ride, look elsewhere. Otherwise, I recommend this car.
Favorite Features
The combination of performance, handling and utility at this price is unsurpassed.
Suggested Improvements
Needs MP3 capability and iPod input, a stiffer rear sway bar and a less flimsy interior. Biggest improvement would be improved sound dampening. This car can be quite noisy on the freeway/highway.

Unique in its class

2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5 i 4dr Wagon AWD (2.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I've put on about 5,000 miles since purchasing. So far, the car's been great in all conditions--comfortable cruising at highway speeds, and fun through twisty back roads. A lot of rare features in a class of mostly cookie-cutter cars - boxer engine, symmetrical awd, versatile 4 door hatchback style. Combined with best-in-class crash safety, a sporty ride and handling, and decent fuel economy, the Impreza has been a good choice for me.
Favorite Features
Great features for the money, good handling, practical hatchback. A compact car that stands out from the crowd.
Suggested Improvements
The stereo is lousy - they should make the WRX-style stereo optional on the base version. The paint seems to chip very easily - I've had more rock chips on the Impreza in 5,000 miles than on our other vehicle in 60,000 miles.
I love it. I seriously Love it

I needed a wagon. I'm a photographer. But I didn't want a large wagon, when I checked out the new WRX wagon I was very impressed by the engine upgrades. I like the 04/05 body style better, but the new style grows on you very fast. The performance is fantastic, acceleration is incredible. and the handling superb ( would benefit from front/rear sway bars and possibly lowering springs). Overall, I wouldn't give this car up for anything. It's perfect in my eyes.
Favorite Features
FUN FACTOR! Overall performance/handling, build quality is right up there, the paint looks stunning (when clean ;)) and the cargo space! 62 cu. ft. is awesome for a car this size. The 5 speed tranny is very responsive as well.
Suggested Improvements
Aux. input please (iPod). Ii hear it is coming next year. I would've liked the HID headlights that come on the STI, but that is negligible to be honest. The missing aux. input is the only thing I feel the car is lacking.
Great performer, for the price

Ignore all the reviews for the car and look at it like this. You can get these for 23K out the door if you're good. It's got the STI 2.5 liter in it. Ebay TurboBack exhaust $500, STi Intercooler $300, Cobb Accessport (ECU) $650, STI Turbo Ebay ($400), you now have 280 horsepower to the wheels and will smoke stock STI's and EVO's and get the same gas mileage, for oh, say less then two grand, bringing the total price to $25 grand and you have STI speed ...WOW. $25K is still lower then sticker on a base WRX ... Nuff said, this car has more potential then the older WRX's and any other car out there in the same price bracket, period. :)
Favorite Features
Engine. That's about it; the interior seats stinks, buy some used STI seats and you'll be happy. VERY quiet ride as well. No road noise what so ever.
Suggested Improvements
LOWER THE CAR, the stock suspension stinks, it has way to much body roll and makes you feel uneasy. Also the brakes need improvement, Just change to stainless steel lines and new pads and you'll have equal breaking performance with an STI. for $400. :)

The STI is the most fun to drive out of all the cars I have ever driven. Acceleration, top end speed, handling can not be beat. If they would only change the front end back to the way it was, it would be perfect!

I previously owned an 03 Mustang Cobra with over 500 HP, so I was a little concerned about taking a 200-horse beating ...however... this car is amazing. It handles like it's on rails, and the brakes will bloody your nose. I am happy I made the trade!
Favorite Features
Superior handling, huge trunk, adjustable headlights.
Suggested Improvements
Rear wing is in the way, would like to see a tilt-steering wheel option.
