If you're looking for a really fun car to drive with performance and good looks to spare- this is it. I was once considering purchasing the new Civic Si, but after driving both of them, it was a no-brainer. Great bang for buck value too. There are of course a few things I would improve upon, but overall I love this car.

Favorite Features

Acceleration, handling, great looks and the endless compliments from random people that see me driving it. Stereo sounds pretty good too - got it with the subwoofer option. Deceivingly large trunk space. Nice looking 17" wheels (comes stock) with painted brake calipers.

Suggested Improvements

More 12v accessory outlets - it only has one. Wish the whole back seat would fold down; only the center armrest folds down.

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX TR 4dr Sedan AWD (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

This car is fast, very reliable, very tunable though fast from the factory. Getting it over 300 hp is very simple. It drives perfect in whatever terrain you put it in. For the money I don't feel any car comes close, Cobalt SS or Evo ($30G is too much). Running 13.86 stock into the low 13s now. Great car for the money, they will be coming out with a new model in two years but with the 2.5 motor, great seats, and endless possibilities with the aftermarket, this car is a go.

Favorite Features

2.5 liter top mount intercooled turbo motor. Endless possibilities.

Suggested Improvements

it's the basic package, everything is fine, though the car sits high in front. doesn't look too good.

Why target an SUV when you have Subaru?

Review

If you're driving an SUV, I can already feel your pain at the pump. My last vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler and I found it was fun however seriously lacking in day-to-day needs. Subie's are agile, great performers off and on road, comfortable, stylish, piratical, safe ... the list goes on. And the best part is I average about 26 mpg which is excellent for an AWD sport wagon. I test drove the Mazda 3 hatch and the Toyota Corolla S. Both came close, however, the Impreza walks all over them.

Favorite Features

Style, gas mileage, cargo space, crossbars, safety, 4 wheel disc brakes. There is a lot for what you pay.

Suggested Improvements

Seats could be a tad more comfortable. That's about it - this really is a great car.

2006 Subaru Impreza STi 4dr Sedan AWD w/Silver-Painted Wheels (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)

Review

This car is amazing. From twisty back roads to highway cruising, it carves through miles and traffic like a hot knife through butter. Suspension is soft enough to not kill your back, but firm when it needs to be. Grip is good, but can be improved with 235/40 tires replacing the stock 225's. Power is fine, even low-end grunt is adequate, but the real treat happens after a very brief turbo spool-up...then holy cats! Basically, find the biggest, toughest guy you know and stick him in the passenger seat. Accelerate from a stop to 70mph getting on the highway and watch his face go white with terror and then start giggling like a schoolgirl...works every time.

Favorite Features

Nice interior, if a bit spartan (certainly better than anything from Mitsubishi), and the reliability is terrific. Powerplant is amazing and the suspension is phenomenal.

Suggested Improvements

Needs better seats (these don't fit me as well as my old Recaros did) and, um, that's about it. Everything else is fine as is, if not great.

Review

I have owed 3 Subaru WRX's. This time I got the STI. Fast, determined, predictable and so easy to drive. I could live in this car and drive it 24 hours a day. It safely takes me to and from work and the performance on the highway keeps me from harms way. All wheel drive is killer in the winter. Braking is amazing and handling superb. I am in love with my car.

Favorite Features

Braking, solid construction, comfort, Subaru super quality, speed, 4 doors make it practical and amount of interior room. Short throw shifter is cool and easy to use.

Suggested Improvements

Move the ash tray somewhere else. Make it 350lbs of torque instead of 300. Better speakers for the stereo.

2006 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Special Edition 4dr Wagon AWD (2.5L 4cyl 4A)

Review

I just traded in a 2.5 XT Forester for this 06 Outback Sport. I love the car. The Forester isn't truly a fair comparison due to size and HP differences. But overall, I am pleased with the Outback Sport. I love Subarus and probably will never drive anything else but they need to fix the seats in the Outback Sport, they are a little narrow (I am not large by any means but found them tight on long trips). I also had a whistling that occurred when I exceeded about 60 mph. I figured it was the roof rack (I added on a Yakima). That doesn't happen on other Subies that I know of.

Favorite Features

6 CD, extra audio equipment, exterior styling, HP to car weight ratio is good. Reliable. Okay gas mileage.

Suggested Improvements

The seats need to have options, not everyone wants sport seats, a dog gate for the back end would be great, and also the sound from the roof rack is a little irritating. I guess it gives you the opportunity to use the upgraded amp and sub.

Review

I previously owned a 2002 WRX and so I was very aware of the ability of the boxer engine and performance. But it still floored me! This car has the power to take on cars twice the price and more. And all wheel drive allows me to drive anytime a year and just about anywhere. The handling is greatly improved. ITS ALL GOOD!

Favorite Features

The differential control is a great feature and the grille makes the car look so much better!

Suggested Improvements

There is little I can think of that would be an improvement. However I would like to see a boost gauge in any turbo I owned.

Review

I test drove the '06 WRX TR as well as an '05 Legacy GT and '05 Mazda RX-8. The WRX was the hands-down winner due to its perfect blend of performance and utility. I have lots of room for my son's carseat in the back (latch hooks are a great convenience) and the trunk is extremely roomy when lugging his stuff around. Acceleration is unbelievable, the new 17" wheels & brakes are amazing and handling at the limit is very predictable. A switch to better tires than the stock all-seasons is a must. I'm getting around 25mpg in mixed city/highway which is spectacular for a car capable of 0-60 in ~5.5secs and a 1/4 mile in the upper 13's. For a car costing around $24K, this is an amazing bargain!

Favorite Features

Acceleration, handling, braking, utility & fuel economy.

Suggested Improvements

Better factory tires.

Overall a great car under the hood. Performs great, drives good, handles sweet, but mind you, I have only 1000K on it. I have few gripes on the initial quality; front speaker vibrates, wiper wash jet doesn't work, driver side door latch doesn't open. I have to basically roll down the window and let myself out. I think Subaru took the racing pedigree bit too far :- ). I have not taken it past 3000 RPM, will let you know after the engine break in period.

I have owned two STi's in the past 3 years. They are great cars. Both of mine are highly modified and can handle immense amounts of stress. The car is a great daily driver, comfortable, good mpg, amazing handling, and much more. This is a great car if you want to go play in the mud and then go beat up on some Corvettes. The next car with as great bang for the buck as the STi is the $70,000 Corvette Z06.

Favorite Features

My favorite feature would be the six speed transmission.
