Also, I'm not sure that 15" wheels will fit on the '06 Impreza, as I think Subaru up-sized the brakes on their cars beginning with the 2000 Outback/Legacy; I'm not sure when the change occurred for the Impreza line, but I imagine it was 2002. You can certainly try it if you have the Impreza and the set of wheels in question, but the 15" tires are quite a bit larger. ... Read More

I'm surprised with the poor sales on the AT WRX. I am not surprised at all. Subaru deliberately crippled the AT version, with a 4-speed AT, when even $13K Honda Fits have been appearing for several years with a 5-speed AT. On top of that, from the 2008 model year, they quietly removed the VTD Differentials (Center differential with planetary gears that split power 45/55 front/rear) of the AT, and slipped ... Read More

Subaru got a lot of flak for the horrible "aero-grill" version in the Tribeca (which had other design flaws including a rear which looked rear-ended) and turned a complete 180 degrees about the ... As far as I know, the handling and interior of the 2006-2007 WRX is the same as the 2005 WRX. The 2005 WRX is pretty much the same as the 2002-2004 WRX save for the updated interior.

You keep mentioning stock 2002-2007 WRX. I think you need to separate out the stock 2002-2005 from the stock 2006-2007, since the 2.5L engine makes a WORLD of difference. Bottomline, the power/torque comes on slightly sooner in the new model but fades away quicker than the 2006-2007 model, which accounts for the slower quarter mile and identical 0-60 (when compared to the 2006-2007 - NOT 2002-2005).
