Also, I'm not sure that 15" wheels will fit on the '06 Impreza, as I think Subaru up-sized the brakes on their cars beginning with the 2000 Outback/Legacy; I'm not sure when the change occurred for the Impreza line, but I imagine it was 2002. You can certainly try it if you have the Impreza and the set of wheels in question, but the 15" tires are quite a bit larger. ... Read More

Hello all...hopefully you can help. I have an automatic 2006 Subaru Impreza Wagon. I was driving home tonight - stopped on the way to run errands - and when I got home, my car wouldn't shift into "park". I tried shifting from drive to reverse, back to drive, back to reverse, and then park, but it still wouldn't budge. I also tried to shift it past drive 3, but it wouldn't ... Read More
I think the NA Coopers run regular unleaded now, don't they? It's just the turbos that run premium? I could be wrong, but something in the back of my mind is telling me that. :-P The 2.0 in the Mazda3 doesn't really "sip" gas. My sister has one (a sedan of course) and only pulls high 20s, which is where I am at with the OBS with a LOT more torque ... Read More

I'm surprised with the poor sales on the AT WRX. I am not surprised at all. Subaru deliberately crippled the AT version, with a 4-speed AT, when even $13K Honda Fits have been appearing for several years with a 5-speed AT. On top of that, from the 2008 model year, they quietly removed the VTD Differentials (Center differential with planetary gears that split power 45/55 front/rear) of the AT, and slipped ... Read More
I've leased a 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (manual shift) and would like to "trade-up" to a Legacy (Automatic) at the same dealership. I talked to the dealership and he told me they can't do a trade, but they can give me a trade-in value (appraise the car) for my leased car and then lease me another car (meaning that they're 2 separate transactions). I've searched on the internet a bit and ... Read More

Hi Car_man, A couple more things, sorry for bugging you: on my current lease I got a 2.9% APR (through Subaru Finance, May 2006) and a bad residual value (aprox 47%). I see that the APR you quoted for the WRX for April 2007 (right now) is significantly worse, i.e. 5.9%, but in the same time the residual value is way better, i.e. 56%. So... Zap re-did the WRX for 2006 and sales went up, yet he still got canned. They needed a scapegoat. It was a shame that the Aero-grill theme of the 06/07 Impreza did not get adopted across the line. Subaru got a lot of flak for the horrible "aero-grill" version in the Tribeca (which had other design flaws including a rear which looked rear-ended) and turned a complete 180 degrees about the ... You seem to think your opinion is of more value than others here simply because you're putting money where your mouth is—as you've told us a bunch of times. I can't think of anything more arrogant! I drove a stock 2006 WRX before I submitted my final piece. Perhaps you should read what I posted in the link I provided earlier. As far as I know, the handling and interior of the 2006-2007 WRX is the same as the 2005 WRX. The 2005 WRX is pretty much the same as the 2002-2004 WRX save for the updated interior.
You keep mentioning stock 2002-2007 WRX. I think you need to separate out the stock 2002-2005 from the stock 2006-2007, since the 2.5L engine makes a WORLD of difference. Bottomline, the power/torque comes on slightly sooner in the new model but fades away quicker than the 2006-2007 model, which accounts for the slower quarter mile and identical 0-60 (when compared to the 2006-2007 - NOT 2002-2005). Your 2004 with the 2.0L ... Read More
Dear hosts and knowledgeable people around, I am new to this forum, although I'm old to Edmunds.com. I hope you'll find the time to help a newbie. In May 2006, I leased a 2006 2.5i manual Sport Wagon. The car is great; however, I am seriously considering terminating the lease early and instead starting a new lease for a 2007 WRX Limited sedan (manual). My current lease details (on the '06 ... I have been a diehard Subaru fan for the last 15 years. Upon seeing the new Impreza I was excited. Not because I like the look of the 2008 Impreza, but because of the uglyness (I know thats not a word, sorry :( ) of this version, my 2006 WRX will hold its value well. What is Subaru doing? The last 3 generations were very good looking cars in my opinion. ... Read More
Hi, we bought this 1995 subaru in October 2006. At that time, the driver's door would only lock with the key. About a month ago, the same thing happened with the passenger door. Well today I couldn't get back in the car on the driver's side. I could not get the door to open no matter what. So I climbed in through the passenger side and drove home. Once home, I ... Read More
I had a 2001 Subaru Impreza RS. I really liked that car. It had its quirks, but driving it still brought pleasure. When the 2006 WRX came out, I found myself dreaming of a WRX, with the 2.5 liter engine. I also liked the look of the front, though others disparaged it. I think it looks really cool. Only one time I got to drive a WRX, and that was at ... Read More
I know I'm coming to this discussion a little late, but I can't help but weigh in since I've encountered a similar dilemma recently. Unlike you, I favor sedans, and up until recently, I thought I wanted a manual transmission. But otherwise, our choices were similar. I ended up with the WRX, and I wish I'd gone with the Legacy GT. I have the 2006 WRX Limited sedan, 5MT. I had ... Read More

Hi fin1581. Subaru Finance's current 36 month, 12,000 mile per year buy rate lease money factor and residual value for the 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5 Wagon are .00095 and 52%, respectively. When negotiating your lease on this vehicle, keep in mind that Subaru is currently providing $1,250 lease cash on it. This cash will help you to negotiate an attractive capitalized cost for your lease. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum
Thanks for the info. The HID's would be nice, but not for that much money :). Too bad the STI is the only Impreza to get them so far. I'm hoping if all the bays and panels are ... Read More
Hey, thanks for your thoughts. It's been a few weeks since anything has happened on this thread. In the last couple weeks, I pretty much decided that if I were to keep the STI, I would definitely get quieter tires (maybe even all-seasons) once the originals wore out (which, of course, won't take very long). But I've decided I want the WRX Limited. My dealer has one '06 left, in the ... Read More
My mom loves her Forester. But yeah, it's just a bit underpowered anywhere above city speeds. I think whenever I drove it, I found myself thinking "I love this vehicle. I just want more power and a less elevated stance." Which seemed to equate to "something from the Impreza line." But somewhere along the line I went crazy and bought a sports car.
Interesting. I wonder how much difference the manual transmission/sport suspension would make in your case. Given that the G35 has a bigger (and much more powerful) version of the same engine my Maxima had, I'd expect it to feel a lot faster. Actually the G35 I test drove felt pretty damn quick and light on its feet. But it was the coupe, which is pretty different from the sedan. And it ... Read More
Indeed ... I think I just underestimated my threshold for the crudeness of the machine. Although like I said, if it weren't for the unanticipated issues (squeaks/rattles, fluctuating climate control, weak sound system, and my own difficulty with mastering this particular clutch), I'd probably be somewhat happier. You're right, the Legacy GT (or even Mazdaspeed 6) would also be decent alternatives. I didn't seriously consider those largely because they are midsized ... Read More
Hi all. This is my first time starting a discussion here so I hope I'm doing this right.
