2004 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX AWD 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

227 HP is more horsepower than a 1990
Mustang GT. All wheel drive means you
get to use all of it too. It's
outstanding in the snow, and a blast to
drive. It will go faster than 95% of
the population wants to go, period. It
has a nice lumpy cam, and performance
parts abound to allow you to
personalize it. I think it might be
the best performance bargain out
there. If you don't like OPEC, buy an
Acura RSX. But if you don't mind 20
mpg, live in the snowbelt, and want
anonymous high zoot, reliable
performance, go get one.

Best Features

Traction, handling, price. Oh, and the turbo. Man, do I love the turbo.

Worst Features

rubber floor mats that fit properly; 17" wheels standard; boost gauge standard; shorter shifter throw standard

2004 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX AWD 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 4A)

Review

The Impreza WRX with the automatic
transmission is a total joy to drive.
Confidence inspiring with the all wheel
drive. There is turbo lag below 3000
rpm. However, the engine has more than
enough power to move along smoothly in
rush hour type traffic. When the turbo
kicks in, the car really gets up and
goes. Great handling. Car design is
practical, what with four doors and a
reasonable sized trunk.

Best Features

Full time all wheel drive; turbo and horsepower; great feeling Momo steering wheel; performance suspension.

Worst Features

Paint looks to be on the thin side; stereo speakers should be upgraded.

2004 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX AWD 4dr Sedan w/Premium Package(2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

Great car, fun to drive. Beautiful
inside and out. For the car enthusiast,
you can add on nearly 100 horsepower
with only a few mods. Fast, yet safe,
all wheel drive gives complete control
of the road. Manual transmission is a
thrill. I would never consider buying
any other car at the same price level.
A terrific buy.

Best Features

Turbo, AWD, body style, interior, guages, the whole damn car is great

2004 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX AWD 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

The WRX is just fun to drive, and with
the rear spoiler it's a great looker as
well. I was a bit surprised on how
solid it feels on the road, after all
it is a small car. There's just a
solid feeling about it. It's a very
quick car in all gears. The engine
takes the rev's easily and makes it a
joy to run up past 6K. You can just
throw it into a turn, and the car just
asks for more.

Best Features

The acceleration is very impressive, the ride is very solid, the car gets lots of looks from people. I've found the controls very intuitive and easy to use, the tach is right where it should be (and you do use it).

Worst Features

The manual transmission could be made a bit smoother. I have the short throw manual, but it seems a bit stiff when pushing it through the gears. A smoother transmission would make shifting even faster and easier.

2004 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX AWD 4dr Sedan w/Premium Package(2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

I've driven hundreds of cars over the
years (I used to work at GM) and the
WRX is one of my favorite. I'm not
interested in being a "tuner", so I
wanted a fun to drive, everyday, AWD
car. I drove the EVO and found it too
harsh, and the STI was too expensive
(although really sweet). I commute in
my WRX over crappy PA roads and find it
fairly quiet and smooth. The interior,
although not luxurious, is very nice
and the build quality is excellent. No
problems at all so far. Performance is
more than adequate for spirited
driving. I definitely made the right
choice. Also considered: Saab 9-3,
EVO, STI, Mini Cooper, BMW 3 series,
TSX.

Best Features

AWD, quiet ride, sharp styling, great seats, PERFORMANCE! Long term durability should be great. Effortless highway cruising combined with backroad agility. Bang for the buck.

Worst Features

Stereo is not great, but ok. Standard 17" wheels. Not much else.
