2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi AWD 4dr Sedan w/Gold-Painted Wheels (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M) WRX STi AWD 4dr Sedan w/Gold-Painted Wheels (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 6M)
Overall this car is the best car I have ever driven and I would never need a better car. The handling and power are simply amazing. The ONLY thing I would like different is the gear ratio (gears are too close together).
Handling and power.

I've owned my 04 sti for about a year and have been pleased! Good everyday car, avg 20 mpg. Lowered so bumpy but drives like a dream. My water pump went out resulting in overheating, resulting in a header job at about 100k mi so keep an eye out for that. Had I caught the overheat before I did, she coulda been spared the trama. The good news, I have an xs exaust and wow, the sound! I've taken down (in speed and sound) many a mustang gt, gto, RTcharger and many v8 trucks with all kinds of loud exhausts. The sound isn't a cheap "bumble bee in a can" sound, its a full "I'm eating your soul" sound. I even put it up to a 1976 stingray (vet) I won, mutually.
DCCD, AWD, performance is outstanding!, RPM light, gold flake black paint (04/05 only?) w/ gold BBS, excellent in all weather! its been put to the weather test and passed with flying colors. rain, tornado winds, ice, hale, STIs rock it all.
XS 3" exhaust sounds AMAZING! tein lowering suspention is a bit of a stiff ride but immediatly drops torque to the ground and if lowered do not rerout intake to passanger side reservoir if there is enough rain in your area (at any season) to splash water in the intake. SERIOUSLY.

There is no other car on the planet that makes more sense than a Subaru WRX STi! It makes 300 hp+300tq with no turbo lag from a turbocharged and intercooled 2.5L Flat 4 cyl,AWD,6 speed tranny, 4 doors, looks that could kill and with minor modifications can make well over 400 hp (like mine does). Sure the ride is a little harsh, but you're glued to the road I feel safer driving my 2 daughters around in it than any SUV or Volvo. Decent gas mileage and very reliable in all weather conditions. Plus 0-60mph in 4.5 sec & the 1/4mile in 13.3 sec@104mph STOCK! I've spent approx $3500 and my car makes 427whp@6400rpm&446wtq@3600rpm,0-60 in 3.8sec & the 1/4mile 12.3@117mph! Its my daily driver too.
Lag free, turbocharged power, all wheel drive, 4 doors, gorgeous body.
I have wanted the STI since it came out in 2004. The price came down a little bit, and there rest the BEAST in my driveway. There are not enough words to describe the STI. But one thing for sure it is NOT a civic, not even in the same ballpark. My thought's were that the power was going to be like the civic at high RPM's. To let you know, I was very, very, WRONG! The best part for me is trying to keep the car under control while driving under the speed limit. If you have no kids then the sky is the limit with the STI. So please find one that an adult has owned with min. mods done to it. ENJOY IT! and be SAFE! The 2004 STI will be a COLLECTORS ITEM!
Front and Back Stance, AWD, 300hp, It is not a typical car, automobile, vehicle, sedan, sport's car, AWD. It is THE 2004 Subaru WRX STI Period
If you're not a sports car enthusiast, do not even test drive one of these cars. However for those of us who enjoy a performance car that has everything you need and nothing you don't. This is the car you need to have. Who cares about the ride comfort? I dont know about you but I didn't buy this car to be a luxurious sunday driver. The power is always there, turbo lag? Not really much of a factor if you know what you're doing. If the gas mileage were better I would take this car everywhere.
This is an absolutely amazing car for the money! I have had mine for almost a month now, and have many upgrades. We can fit the carseat in the back, and as far as the insurance company knows, the STi is a four door family car. I traded in a mustang gt for the STI and love the trade. The STi has power, as well as being VERY economical. Gas mileage is good, when you're not wearing the lead shoes. And the dependability that Subaru offers is one that stands strong. It is hard to find a fast car that will never get stuck in the snow, but the Subaru did it.
Factory boost gauge, r/diff manual mode, Brembo brakes, STi racing seats.
Fix the brake dust problem and add some room in the back seat. Keep the 2007 spoiler.
I'm a race fanatic. I've driven Acura's RSX Type-S and ridden Suzuki's GSXR 1000, taking both through their and my limits. Hence the term 'speed junky' to describe myself would be well used. The STi has been by far the best bang for the buck I've ever experienced. Just like with motorcycles, I'm not going to tell you that one car is the best for you; it boils down to driving preference, comfort, and affordability. For $31k I was considering the MazdaSpeed6, and the MazdaSpeed3. After our last few snowstorms here in CO I settled for an AWD sedan with a good punch. The STi has been by far the best refined AWD sedan I tested within this price range/category (sports-sedan).
- AWD - DCCD/LSD dial - Shift light - Power - Torque - Headlights - Clearance - MPG.
- Rear passenger leg room or go to 2 door configuration - FI Map changing on the fly for different winter fuel - Short-throw included. - Acura RDX Turbo style - NO LAG! Big punch! - Motion sensitive alarm included. - All weather tire included. - Big wing; optional. - Quieter ride.
My husband convinced me to get this car because he knew that I would not need to replace it anytime in the foreseeable future. It works as a 'family' car and a daily driver. My husband and I were window shopping for something better and you can't find it for less than $60k. At least not with 4 doors and AWD, which is a must.
Exterior design, handling, power, interior color scheme, the 'size' (I'm petite).
The plastic on the interior feels cheep, and the paint does chip pretty bad. While I like the placement (for the most part) of the upper drink cup holder, it is cheep plastic and doesn't hold very large cups. Oh yeah, and 60/40 rear folding seats.
This has to be the most fun I've ever had driving. It's quick, sharp and loves to go.
Large trunk, with 4 doors that makes it easy to get in and out of. Love the rear view mirror, really makes a difference when someone comes up behind with bright lights.
Wouldn't want to make a road trip in it, the seats need a shock system, you can feel the paint on the roads. So you can imagine what a bumpy road might feel like.
This car is the funnest thing I have ever driven. I have wanted an STi since they came out in 1994 in every other country except the US. Everyone asked me what my favorite car was and I told them 'a Subaru Impreza WRX STi version 4 Type R'. They were like 'huh' and 'what the heck is that?' Then in 2003 I found out they were coming to the US as a 2004 model WITH 300HP AND 300 FT.LB'S!. Well, needless to say, I started saving my money up, but I got impatient and bought a nearly immaculate used 2004 with ridiculously low miles for a very good price. Why someone traded it in is beyond my comprehension.
0-60 IN FOUR POINT WHAT? My 84 Subaru got it done in more like four minutes. A 6 speed stick? Stick=needle in a haystack. Corners like no other. gets almost 30 mpg. You can drive it in ice and snow. you wouldn't do that with your Porsche or your Viper, now would you?
Well, it does have about the same ride quality as my 1990 Dodge 1 ton 4x4 diesel truck. Though I like it like that, some don't. A little less turbo lag. prettier wheels, those are the ugliest BBS wheels I've ever seen. A smaller spoiler would keep me from getting pulled over as often, thats about it.
I absolutely love this car. I bought it looking for a new car to travel with overseas in the military due to its size and I really wanted a sports car. Greatest feature to convince a wife to buy it, 4 doors and seats. It handles great and has all the power you need to get past slow drivers on backwoods roads or into the fast lane on the highway. Only drawback was that Subaru did not offer all-season tire options on this car as it comes standard with RE070 Summer Radials. The day after I bought my STi, it snowed over 2 feet the next few days. I got snow tires and for it and had a blast with the AWD! Everyday driver, ask any STi owner, best car for the buck.
Powerful engine, great handling, awesome look. Love the driver central controlled differential so I can shift power to the rear or put in auto AWD 50/50. Best brake system on stock sold car. Gets the attention of people who ride with me and makes Corvette owners mad (plead 5th). Easily upgraded.
Offer all season/weather tires as an option. Use ceramic brakes (almost all STi owners I know now use Hawk APS brakes due to the 75-80% brake dust reduction). Most owners I talk to complain about excessive brake dust on OEM brakes. Upgrade stock turbo to 20g bolt-on and bigger intercooler.
I have had many so-called sports cars and this is by far and away the best car for the money. The price performance ratio is solidly in this car's favor as it is as fast as many cars that are twice the price. Peerless handling in all weather conditions inspires complete confidence. If you are a new driver, however, this is NOT the car for you. It would be for someone who is experienced enough to use it to it's full potential. I have had no problems with the car at all, and it is just a rocket sled. Don't look for big MPG numbers, especially if driven in anger. My only other advice: Buy one NOW!
Performance, looks, comfort, amenities, balance, handling, the list could go on and on.
Maybe a little more upscale interior wise, but nothing that is a deal breaker.
I wanted an STI long before they came to US shores. The amount of power Subaru was able to extract from a four-cylinder, 2.5 liter engine is nearly obscene. I paid $27K for a 375hp (after a few mods) monster that's as much fun on the racetrack or an autocross course as it is running errands around town. The guttural roar of the boxer, accentuated by an aftermarket turboback exhaust, makes you want to turn off the radio and roll down the windows. I am forced to drive like a complete jerk by this car, and still manage to get 25 mpg around town. Test drove the Evo, the VW R32, the S2000, and while this isn't as comfortable as the VW or as go-kart light as the Evo, it is by far the most fun.
Aggressive styling (you can keep the Alpha Romeo-looking 06 front end), V8- crushing torque, rumble, spartan-yet-comfortable interior, dazzlingly-bright & adjustable HID lights, bulletproof transmission, incredible Brembo brakes, stock iridium plugs, DCCD, and last but not least, Subaru reliability.
All minor gripes can be cleared up with aftermarket parts. Paint troubles? Rockblocker and several coats of wax. Vague shifter? Try TIC short throw + bushings. Steering slop? Polyurethane rack bushings. Not enough power? TBE + engine management. Scary on snow? Dedicated snow tires. Understeer? Sway bars!
Although I love this car, the biggest problem has been with the dealer and Subaru. I had a synchronizer problem develop, and took it in for repair. I was told that the transmission needed to be rebuilt due to "driver abuse", and that it would cost $2,900. After going back & forth, including talk of legal action, Subaru repaired the transmission free of charge, but said it was only a "gesture of good will", and not a warranty repair. Now, after only 25,000 miles, the clutch is slipping. I am not an abusive driver, I have never raced the car. I am 60 years old, and I have never had a problem with any manufacturer until Subaru.
Performance, braking and handling. Very easy car to drive. Very safe due to the performance characteristics.
Strengthen the gearbox, and put in a stronger clutch. Subaru and its dealers, need to either honor its warranty, or sell the car without one. Their treatment of me, and others, is reprehensible!
This car is a true drivers car. Acceleration, handling and brakes are racecar like. A few basic mods will turn this car into a beast. Will get you in trouble with the law if not careful. You will want to stab the throttle every time you step on the gas. I test drove the 04 M3, 06 Vette and was not impressed. I wanted to jump back in my Suby! No need to spend $50k. DCCD is a plus. Behaves like a RWD when you want it to. You HAVE to launch this car! It takes off like a rocket!
Engine responsiveness, handling, brakes (stops on a dime and looks good), sound, roominess, and muscular look.
Shifter can use some tweaking (3rd&5th tends to grind during at the limit driving, but not that bad. Spoiler can be toned down a bit. Change the factory exhaust, add a boost controller, blow off valve and you have a awesome sounding rocket!
I love it when I start it, when I drive it, and when I lock it up. I love it in the middle of the night just knowing it's in the garage. The power. The brakes. The handling. The roar. The POWER! And the looks I get -- driving into the parking garage at work ... dropping my kid off at school (from the other parents) ... pulling into the 7-11. You can take your 350Z, your Evo, your (cough) S2000 and keep them. Keep them out of my way, that is.
Tires stick like flypaper to the road -- brakes make you happy for that seat belt -- acceleration makes you grin like a madman.
Seriously, Subaru, the paint needs help. It chips if you look at it funny. I put a serious scratch in the door with my FINGERNAIL. However, you know it's a pretty good car if all you can complain about is the paint.
I love this car. It's got gobs of power in every gear, handles like it's on rails, has great fitting seats (for the average size guy at least), nice visible gauge cluster, and gets good gas mileage considering what it is. It's a factory made race car, that is totally street drivable. I can even haul the kids around town with no discomfort what so ever. The best car for under $30k and even beats some higher prices exotics.
The styling, it's like no other car on the street. Not many cars other than higher priced sports cars like the Z06 can beat it in the straight line, and nothing can compare in the twisties (other than it's rival the EVO8).
None. The car rocks as it is.
This car is an excellent choice if you are a driving enthusiast who wants a daily driver. The engine pulls good at any RPM, almost feels like there's no turbo lag in day-to-day driving. The car is practical even with its design intent. Four doors and easy to drive make it a great daily driver. The gas mileage may be poor regardless of how you drive, but you will be hard pressed to drive this car like a normal person. The car begs you to push it as hard as you can. The suspension is tight but you can live with it. I have raced that car in autocrosses and the handling is fun, you can achieve oversteer with the right tire pressure. The brakes are also out of this world.
Great engine, trans, suspension, and breaks. The aerodynamics really is functional. 4 doors and a good-sized trunk. DCCD does make the car drive like a true rear drive. Finally, this i s a great daily driver and weekend racer.
Lots of brake dust and most importantly, the paint chips easily.
It'll lope along in 6th at 50 mph. HID's (height adjustable), DCCD, 6-speed tranny, I/C spray, adj. Tach (shift points), and 300 smoothly delivered horsepower. Idles nicely at 500 rpm, lopes along at 2000 rpm. Get it over 4000 rpm and that boxer just growls so nice it gives you goose bumps. The tires are excellent and give good performance, wet or dry, but do let them warm-up. Very responsive handling. Oh, did I mention the BRAKES. Seats four, large trunk, large glove box makes it a car you could live with day to day. You can't buy another car like this for any amount of money. It's a fantastic performance car!
Dependability, driveability, handling, horsepower. Put a set of snow tires on it and you rule the road. Absolutely the best handling vehicle I've ever driven in the snow (except for a snowmobile). If you want a car that can do SOME THINGS better than this car, bring an extra 50 grand.
A stronger centering spring for the 6-speed. If you're long legged the cruise control stalk will brush against your knee. It needs to be moved somewhere else because one of these days I feel I'm gonna snap it off. A pass-through in the rear seat for ski's. Less understeer at the limit.
Need a practical car with a pretty roomy trunk? Need 4 doors? Need AWD? Need speed? This car is not only my daily driver, it is my entertainment and therapist. If I'm having a bad day, I listen to the turbo spool and smile. I love this car so much mainly because I never have to worry about it not working or not having the ability to take passengers somewhere and worry about their comfort. The seats are comfortable, it has the key features you look for: ABS, cruise, A/C, PW, PL, etc. The brakes are huge and really perform great (makes this car safe). If you're considering a compact sedan and don't want to compromise on performance and practicality ... test drive this car.
Turbo, AWD, great braking power (Brembo brakes), A/C, cruise, power locks & windows.
Sunroof ... thats it!
This vehicle is not for the faint of heart. The power and handling characteristics are "world class" but for a middle class price. The grip of Subaru's AWD, limited slip in front, limited slip in the rear and the driver or computer controled center planetery differential allow the 300 horses to do what they are designed to do. Move you at heart pounding speeds down curved or straight roads. I have owned this vehicle for two years and I love it. I have NEVER regreted my buying decision AT ALL.
300HP/300FP torq, AWD, 0-60 in 4.7sec.
Exactly as advertised. It's powerful, it's fun to drive. This car isn't meant to be a luxury car, so yeah, the ride's harsh. But if you want luxury, buy some slow Cadillac. And the ride's not all that bad, really. There's a few quirks and things that I've noticed, but the only unscheduled maintenance has been minor. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that I bought this car. If you have the money and want a fast, fun, car, THIS IS IT! You would not get me to trade this in for a Porsche, Vette, or M3 at any price. Maybe an E55 or M5, but that would be about it. And those are $50K more.
300hp, 300 ft-lb. AWD. 6-speed. Seats provide good support. And yet all this with 4 doors, and if you put on suitable tires you can drive it in the winter.
The shifter does tend to be a little vague; sometimes it seems to resist going into 3rd. Wish there was an option for a more modest spoiler. Since 99.9% of my driving is on regular roads, I would have paid extra for some kind of stability control (if there was an off switch!).
This is an amazingly fast vehicle. You can definitely feel all 300 horses and the 300 ft/lbs of torque. The AWD works great and helps out in rough road conditions. This is a pure performance car with little flaws. The negatives I did find were random rattle noises, attention I get from police, unmatched green lighting on the radio and climate control, easily chippable paint, and the gas mileage. Overall this car is for the driving enthusiasts, people who love to hear the car's engine and turbo, feel the car's torque, and be able to take corners with ease. You will not find another car with this much power for the price. Test drive it and you will automatically fall in love with it!
I love - the 300hp, 300feet/lbs of torque, two tone seats, red/orange gauges, the large centered tach, the stock short throw shifter, the turbo, wheels, the hood scoop, the large wing, all wheel drive, and how fun it is to drive.
Better paint is a must. I have many chip marks from flying rocks. It doesn't take too much to chip the paint. The gear shifter is a bit messy. I wish the seats were a bit more stable. For racing seats they seem like they are a bit wide.
When my wife and I bought our first WRX in 2002 I had no idea what was to come. When I first drove down the street in my STi I was overwhelmed... I was like, "its really mine! My only reservations were the seats - which I already replaced with JIC Magic seats (aftermarket race seats). After adding some basic bolt ons I was impressed even more. The build quality is awesome and I know that reliability is no issue.
Torque torque torque! The DCCD Controls are very fun to use.
Interior pieces need to be more solid- maybe I drive too hard or have too many aftermarket parts - but some plastic parts "rattle."
I've owned this car for 15 month and put on 10,500 miles with no problems. Igrew up in the muscle car era of the 60's and 70's this car out performes almost all of them in all catagories. a lot of performance for the money. puts the excitement back into driving. I take friends my age who also know muscle cars. they can't believe it!!!
I like the rally car styling because its different and catches alot of attention. fun to drive on the curvy and hilly roads with the torque and handling
More paint choices. redesign hood scoop and rear wing so they are still functional, but not so obtrusive.
The STi is by far the most performance value for your dollar. At roughly $100/horsepower, you will be challenged to find something else that competes (with the exception of the Mitsubishi EVO). This car is by far the most fun to drive of any turbocharged car I've owned. Running out of corners in 2nd gear with the All Wheel Drive will put a huge grin on your face every single time you do it. There are other performance cars out there such as the Nissan 350Z that are close. But the STi offers a standard cart-your-friends around 4-door (I carry both my kids car seats in mine) that you don't get with most sports cars. Bottom line is this car is a blast to drive, and is affordable.
All Wheel Drive performance and stiff suspension gives outstanding road grip. Plenty of utility and a practical daily driver. Acceleration is excellent in all gears. Leave *everything* else on the road behind when the pavement is wet.
Folding rear seats would be a huge improvement in utility and would allow you to carry a much greater variety of cargo. A good performance automatic transmission option would be great. Improved anti-sway bars to take out that tiny little bit of understeer. Automatic mode for the Intercooler Spray.
If you want a car that performs like a 60,000 dollar car for half the price this is it. Let me tell you this car is a champ with the background of a championship winning car in the World Rally Championship. A lot of the features are derived from the actual rally car. It handles awesome and accelerates awesome. This car will beat most European cars on the road easily. You will laugh at most stock Japanese cars.
The center differential. It lets you go into corners very hot and won't let you slide out or lose control.
Maybe adding a second turbo for more power. Also a semi automatic setup like the rally car and most current Euro cars. 18 inch wheels.
This car is a great performer, but you pay the price with a harsh ride. Fuel economy is poor, even when driven tame (15-17mpg). Build quality could be better, especially with paint. The paint seems to chip and scratch easily. Make no mistake, this car is about the engine and little else. Subaru should offer performance upgrades packages with reduced warranty coverage for those looking for more performance. If your looking for a quick car with a nice ride for the same price...look at the Infinity G35.
Better paint, performance upgrade packages through Subaru
This car is really fun to drive. It feels like a American Muscle but has AWD.
If you are willing to get a performance car for under 33 grand you should consider buying a STi
UPON PURCHASING MY WRX I DID AN EXTENSIVE REVEIW AND COMPARISON WITH THE MITSUBISHI EVO...FOR ONE WHOLE YEAR.BASED ON MY EXP WITH BOTH VEHICLES I FOUND THE SUBARU LESS MAINTAINANCE PRONE,ONLY B/C MITSUBISHI HAS AN EXTENSIVE MAINT.REQUIREMENTS LIST.ALSO THE SUBARU'S ACTIVE VALVE TIMING PROVES ITS BETTER SUITED FOR DAILY USES WITH IS WHAT IT'S INTENDED FOR.
MY FAVORITE FEATURE WOULD HAVE TO BE THE RED INTAKE..LOOKS LIKE SNAKES.
THE ONLY IMPROVEMNET I SEE FIT IS A LITTLE FASTER STEERING RATIO THATS IT& AND OF COURSE THE TORNADO DOES WONDERS AND BLOW OFF VALVE...
this a great all around car. fast, handles like a dream. sticks to the road like you wouldn't beleive. it is on par with many high end exotics. it will hang with or beat my father's porsche gt2 in all aspects. my hats off to subari for FINALLY bringing the sti to the usa. hopefully the battle for power and handling will continue with mitsubishi as it has for years overseas
factory turbo charged, awd, driver controled center differental, interior quality and design, rally inspired looks and technology. looks from everyone on the road like you're in a ferrari
side skirts could be a little lower, and putting a ban on dealer mark ups(i DID NOT pay one, but they tried to tack on an extra 15k!!!)otherwise i love the car in everyway
The Subaru is a very reliable car, that has great gas mileage. The car is quick and agile. Turning is superior as well as fun. Overall this car is a good buy.
0-60 is quick and responsive, turing is pinpoint. Saftey is also a plus.
More Horsepower would be nice. Low rpm torque is average.
This is an awesome machine. I drive my sports cars like they are meant to be driven, hard and fast, and the STI will take anything you throw at it. I have never had one problem from this vehicle and I use it on a weekly basis for autocross and drag racing.
Power, Power & More Power, this is one bad as*s four banger. There are very few cars that have the capabilities to keep up with this vehicle. Vets cant even hang 0 to 60 mph or in the quarter.
Im not gonna go on for hours and fill this page with its max # of characters, ill simply say.... this car is not only amazing in every way but shows other car producers that they are far from catching up in making such a perfect and reliable car!
Its engine design, the way everything is connected, just makes you open the hood every day and exam every piece by piece!
Interior plastic could look a bit better, and more space for back seat drivers!
This is a dream come true for all boys older enough to own a licsence. Power, speed, accelleration and oh baby looks that could take a thousand breaths away. This is an experience that can not be described in any words. So get down to a dealer and testdrive a wrx sti and experience life like never before
The speed and the racing feeling you experience once inside this magnificent veheicle
If the fuel cosumption could be any beter it would only be a bonus. But hey that is the price of perfomance.
This car rocks, it has 4 doors & a large trunk. I can fit the kids in the back and still have fun. It launches like a rocket, turns like it's on rails, and stops on a dime. I go through withdrawal pains anytime I am not driving it. I want to make trips just to drive it. You can't beat the feeling of the turbo and the 300ft-lbs of torque. The handling is outstanding and the braking is quick and sure. On top of this, it has all-wheel drive (that is computer or manually adjusted). The interior looks great and the controls are well laid out. Performance of a car costing twice as much with safety features like huge brakes (w/ABS), side airbags, and AWD.
The handling. Between the power and torque, suspension, and brakes, you just can't beat the ride. I love it and would rather drive my own car than the company car (even though they pay for the gas).
Sill too high, armrest too low. Make the armrest extension std. The seats can be uncomfortable. It should come with a stereo. The boost gauge tends to obscure the temperature reading. The wing on the back blocks a good bit of the view through the rear.
Owned several high performance cars. The STi is the most practical. However it does not have the same quality build/fit and finish as the german and other japanese products.
Great power, head turner (for cops too), great brakes.
-Better seat adjustments -Remote does not open trunk. -HID not standard in Canada -Fog lights are optional. -Too much brake dust -No sunroof option. -Needs a performance exhaust Suspension could be lowered -18" wheels, wider tires. -Depreciation is a negative.
I love this car for its speed, grip, and handling, but I find it somewhat trenous to drive in traffic. That has nothing to do with the manual transmission, by the way, which shifts like a dream. My civic/integra hybrid is a manual and is more relaxing, despite its high performance clutch. I think it's the heavily caffeinated motor. Now on a wide open road, it's a different story. It's reasonably quiet but still louder than a normal WRX.
Engine. Boost. Tranny. Brakes. Grip. Seats and colors.
needs a boost pressure gauge. How could they overlook this???? fuel economy. . . .
I planned to test drive a number of performance 4-door sedans, but then I test drove an STi and was so blown away I bought it on the spot. This has to be one of the best, if not THE best, high performance car bargain ever. I dig everything about my STi and have to open the door to my garage several times a night just to gaze upon my resting blue devil waiting to be unleashed on an unsuspecting motoring public. As a bonus, I have instant respect from the fast & furious crowd (and even the grayinig, detroit iron bably boomer crowd, of which I am one) anytime I pull up to the gas pump or stop by the local cruise night. This car rocks!
Power, handling, traction, brakes, looks, driveablility, practicality...just about everything
Make an audio system and floor mats standard equipment
its a god car for the price
i have enjoyed my sti, it is fast and does well in any weather. the awd is awesome in the snow. it beats most cars in the dry weather, and all of them in the snow.
brakes, nothing stops better.
This car does everything I need at this point in my life. It has four doors, all wheel drive, and a good size trunk. But the best thing is the unbelievable power from this "family car". Buy one...you wont be dissapointed!
The POWER baby.
Lose the gold rims.
What's not to like about a car that can give Porsche Turbos a run for their money on the road and cost you less than your average entry-level luxury snoozer? You get the convenience of 4 doors, an enourmous trunk, and respectable gas mileage. Plus, you get the safety of Subaru AWD standard. 'Nuff said.
Sweeping gauge needles at start-up. Power from motor. Grippy tires. Stout Drivetrain. Specialized seats.
How about some floor mats + a radio? NAV option and engine immobilizer system would be nice touches.
This car is just pure amazing. It can out accelerate almost any rival, it handles like a dream on turns and can stop on the dime. The interior is very nice, the seats, steering wheel, pedals, everything. The exterior speaks for itself. If you're looking for an ultra high performance sedan, that is practical and reliable, starting under 30K, you must check this car.
300 hp/300 torque, you can make everyone disappear very quickly, shift buzzer, IC sprayer, Engine, tranny, suspension.
Floor mats should be standard.
This is the most fun I've had driving since my college club racing days of driving Porsche Speedsters. Living in the Rocky mountains I can't think of a better car-snow,sleet,ice,rain and curvy roads. But you have to stay alert to drive this car.Due to the high torque and quick acceleration you have to judge road conditions before you stomp on it.
Engine torque from a four cylinder.
Brake feel a little soft at extreme pressure. It's hard to judge at what point you activate the abs when you actually don't want to.
Subaru has made a wonderful car but no one is 100% the first year. I expect small changes in the future to make this beast into THE CAR.
TAKE OFF THE WING!!!! I dont care if it adds fifty hp..well maybe then. If I have one kid try to race me or cop flow me because of that wing I am going to go insane. More color options would be nice and if you hit a bump expect some type on squeak, churp or thud.
This is simply the closest thing to a WRC car most of us will ever get to drive and it is simply stunning. Push this car to the limit and you will be rewarded.
Power is amazing, boost is brilliant, transmission is smooth, clutch is strong, brakes are awesome
Should have brought is to the USA sooner.
I test-drove my scoobie on a cold, rainy night during rush hour. I pulled out onto the freeway feeder and stomped on the gas. Never before have I experianced anything like it in such unfavorable conditions. Amazing acceleration. A good, balanced handling and steering package, a very rough ride, and a little more understeer than expected. But mash the gas and other drivers are just sitting still - fantastic. It's your chance to own a true musclecar. Those Playstation kids will want to hug you.
Americans want HORSEPOWER and Subaru delivers 25 dozen to all the wheels in a no-nonsense package. This car is insane.
How about some style? And even more power for less money? I think they can do it.
if you want a car that can do it all this is the car for you.new to the u.s. but not new to the world.a car with real life combat exspieriance called world rally raceing.I strongly recomend that you have alot of driving time with performance cars.and please dont buy your kid this car,you will have lots of trouble.
turbo power.power and more power. awd a very uniqe boxer moter love the sound of a boxer. fantastic brakes.
none . you cant get any better than this.
With 300 HP and 300 Ft pounds of torque this beast goes up hills like nothing. You guyz did a great job on desinging this machine.
sport style seats, golden 17" alloy rims, the layout on the tach and the speedo gauges.
I was fortunate enough to get one of the first few in Annapolis. I love the car, it is everything I thought it would be in terms of performance. I wanted a car with a huge 'grin factor' to justify all of the hours spent at work. And this car provides the grin factor in spades. I can't really ask for anything more from the car in terms of performance, styling, and fun. It is a sports car so the creature comforts must be overlooked.
The engine is by far my favorite feature, the sound is wonderful to listen to and the turbo spooling up and down is like a jet engine. The aural satisfaction is 100%. The short throw transmission is a blast to drive, and the wide tires provide tons of grip.
Something could be done to improve the drink holder design and the trunk release does not always work perfectly.
i was looking at this car thinking it would be a decent car, i had yet to test drive it and i liked the interior. When i test drove the car i was sold on it, that is by far the fastest turbo 4cyl engine i have ever seen. The price bit my wallet a bit more than i wanted them to, i tried to get the car for invoice but i couldnt get anyone to do that, the best i got was $600 over invoice or around $31k then taxes etc.. i am getting the car for a total of $32,900. I cant wait to open this car up to it's full capabilities but i want to break it in properly and get used to the power so i can control the car and not let the car control me.
Power and the interior looks
i would suggest they improve the car a bit more by adding a navigation system and adding the cruise control and radio controls to the steering wheel for easy access, i know that i dont want to take my hands away from the wheel unless i am shifting.
What a fun car to drive as a daily commuter. Power will definitly get you tickets if you don't practice some self control. Invest in a radar detector (V1)...saved me a few times already. You WILL get people wanting to race you at stoplights!...don't think most even have an idea what's under the hood :) It's just nice to know that you would win in most cases.
Power/Torque, Handling, Brakes, and 4 doors on a car that is so performance oriented.
No Radio (should have a basic radio as a standard feature), no floor mats. minor rattle now and then (seems to be temp. dependent)
I bought this car because of it's performance combined with it's versatility. I work closely with several different doctors and have had the opportunity to drive many of their cars ranging from King Ranch F-350's and H2's to Z06 Vettes and BMW Z3's. This STI will easily keep pace with my friends' Vette, plus I have a back seat and a trunk and average 25 mpg. This is the first turbo-powered car I have owned, but the power deliver seems very smooth to me. It is very easy to putt around town in, but even easier to fly on the interstate with.
The boxer engine sound is addicting. Even better is the sound of the turbo spooling up. I like the double overdrive tranny. The lights are like the Sun. I never have to worry about seeing something with no time to stop. The high beams will reflect light over 6/10 of a mile away!
Having the I/C water spray button on the left dash is a reach. First gear tends to rev up way too fast. The ride will rattle your fillings out on the crappy Oklahoma roads. I wish we could have gotten last year's "bug-eyed" model of the STI. It was a little less noticable.
Subaru got everything right on the STi! Look at the performance features: 300HP/300ft-lbs TQ, Short-throw 6-Spd, dual LSD's, DCCD System, Brembo's, BBS's...the list goes on. The STi's "fun-factor" is phenomenal. It is difficult to find a true flaw with this car. I've had the opportunity to now drive mine in snow, in which it did not disappoint (clad in all season tires).
- Bang-for-the-buck factor - Dash Layout (centered tach, built-in shift warning system) - HID's - Ability to plant a smile on a driver's face
The only item that I would ask for would be for the large rear wing to be an option (I would have opted for a notch-back trunk).
It feels like an import muscle car. Tremedous amount of torque for a 4 cylinder import. Everyone that gets a ride in my car starts grinning and giggling once they feel the power. Expressions are always the same. i couldn't tell enough about this car......Performance is let's choose the word awesome. I have had 8 sportbikes and a custom turbo'd S2000...
Torque, no need for downshifting to pass people on the highway. Excellent handling. AWD in the rain gives you much more confidence....
Interior, seats are made for larger (wider) people. Doors feel cheap. Keeping the wheels clean? Holy cow these high performance brakes let so much dust out....
I love my new pocket rocket. It is a blast to drive. I'm also relearning other pleasures associated with smaller cars, like increased parking opportunities, nimbleness in traffic, weight-to-power ratio and smaller surface area to wash :>) This car has neck snapping acceleration. When pushing this car to its limits one better be paying attention. Great for around the city, not sure I'll be taking this car on long road trips; not a lot of leg room for back seat riders and the trunk is a little small for luggage for four (ok for groceries though).
Acceleration at any speed, traction around corners, traction on wet surfaces (4 wheel drive), breaking capabilities
Ride may be a little too hard for some. Six speed can get confusing. Day time running lights would be a bonus.
What an Amazing car worth twice the price
wish the center diff could transfer all power to front or rear and not just a slight power shift
This car is a dream. So much power and style. Will turn heads and rpms on a dime.
It's the first year of manufacturing so there are little quirks to work out. NOthing major.
This is my first real sports car. I love the shear power of the engine. Very fun to drive and handles turns well.
turbo whine, power, nice seats, aggressive look.
gun metal rims an option, make all of the dash/ac control lights red! - had to do the mod myself. throw in floormats. atleast provide mounting holes/brackets for speakers!
I don't even own one of these cars. I went to the dealer, and a younger guy came out to help me. He then offered to take it for a test drive!!!!! It was about a half hour before closing and he wanted to kill some time. While I was driving he said to me, "don't be a girl, give it some gas. this is a performance car." so that's what I did. All I can say is WOW. I have a 93 Mustang GT and the STI will destroy it. When the rpm's hit about 2000, it feels like you just got shot out of a cannon. The car is absolutly mind- blowing. I'm now trying to find things to sell, so that I can afford an STI.
everything. hid lights
wing should be option. gold rims are disgusting on any color except black.
When I first bought this car--Subaru WRX STI--I was stunned. It's performance is beyond comprehension and has great acceleration which makes this car match up to a Porsche 911 GT3.It's interior is sporty--not to mention expensive-looking and the exterior is excellent and craftmanship is good as well. I was happy with this purchase and you will be, too.
Exterior, acceleration, comfort and craftmanship.
I am glad that I gought this car and thanks to Subaru of dallas letting me test drive a STI. I am amazed by the performance by the STI, the way it handles on the street and on the track.
Japanese automakers should think to allow some additions like NOS, engine mods to increase the HP without cracking the transmission.
This is a true performance car that just happens to have four doors. Power is when and where you want it and is very streetable and smooth. Short throw six speed is all that's available and that is the way it should be. Firm ride is not for everyone, but those that want "feel" and "control", this is your car. Brakes...OH YEAH, Brembos all around. Large fully functional hood scoop and absense of radio is reminiscent of a 68 Hemi Dart. MPG (18- 22) is above average for this performance level. FUN FUN FUN!
Balanced Performance. It's quick, it handles and it stops.
Make wing optional and floormats available
The best car of all
handling and horse power
Being a World Rally Fan I wanted to own a car like the vehicles that race in that series. Mitsubishi came out with the Evo VII Lancer early this year to rave reviews. I drove one and felt that it was very rough edged and not suitable for a daily driver. In comparison the STi Impreza WRX is a very polished vehicle with awsome performance. Sub 5 second 0-60, 13.2 seconds in the quarter mile. "What is that?" Is the question I get the most. This car has about $18,000 worth of performance parts without the need to get rid of all the factory stock parts. BBS wheels, lightened glass, Alloy hood, brembo brakes, etc. etc....Get one and Enjoy.
300 hp and 300 fpt are my farvoite, All wheel drive..and the greatest brakes I've ever used.
Improve the interface with the DCCD. 18" wheel option? Performance tires with a little more life? Comes with Summer only tires.
Get power, great handling.
factory backed performance parts, more supportive seats
A true sport rally racing family 4-door 5-passenger utility all-purpose vehicle!!!
Performance, neck turner, an "make-me- drool" ride, an ultimate men's (& women's) desire
NOTHING for now! Still getting acquainted to its limits!
This car is amazing. If you want porche performance with room for 5, this is the car for you. Just tap the gas and you are off to the races. it corners like none other and brakes like the champ it is.
I love the interior! I have had people take pictures of my sti on the freeway. People who know what it is give it the respect it deserves.
It would have been cool with a radio, but i love my panasonic much more than what subaru offers with 3D graphics. I would like to see dustless brake pads. maybe a little tighter steering so i don't have to hear the one leg that the lancer has up on the subarus 10.
use to max baby yeah
I have been waiting for this car my whole life. If you would have told me even 5 years ago that I could buy a car for $30k that did 0-60 in well under 5 sec, had a top speed of 150mph, 300HP, 4WD with an active diff, 6spd tranny and handling on par with the best, I wouldn't have believed you. And it has 4 doors and a trunk? Better than 20 mpg? Ridiculous. This car is not for everyone. It is loud, with an extremely stiff ride. Maintenence is very expensive. It is also a bit scary. It has limits far beyond the abilities of all but professionally trained racing drivers.
Interior quality, power & torque, HID headlamps, gauge cluster, transmission and DCCD. Better than expected gas mileage.
Non-excessively priced OEM stereo option, wing delete option, sequential manual transmission (NOT automatic), Ecsaine fabric on rear seats.
I love this car. Last week I had an 2003 Acura NSX race me, he could not belive why he was behind me. lol Everyone that looks at dosen't belive how fast it is untill I take them for a ride, afterword they are just blown away. Its about time the STi came here!
Turbo & DCCD.
I wish it was better on fuel but keep in mind I had a RSX before...lol I am just asking too much from 300 hp.. Love the car.
I have read tons of material about this car but after I got my hands on this vehicle my love is growing with every day that goes by. I am lucky and happy man! The best car ever! Fun to drive with a bit of a challenge.
Awsome brakes, great handling. Strong engine and world class 4 wheel drive.
Sequential transmission would be a help!
After a long wait, My new STI came Home, Every thing you could want in a true Rally Car, Great Responsive Ride, Tons and Tons of power. This is my 4th subaru, Hands down the best yet!! 96 SVX -LSI 2001 Legacy GT Limited Sedan (still Own) 2003 Legacy GT Wagon (Still Own) 2004 STI Blue / Gold
Sweeping Gauge Cluster AWD Diff Control LOOKS you get when Rally (in) down the road
Leather and Heated seats would be a +
My WRX STi is very fun to drive and the all wheel drive sticks you to the road. I was a little disappointed with the interior design. 300hp is of course rated at flywheel and not at wheels. Dyno revealed 12% drop to 264hp, which is still impressive, but a 6 cylinder would have done better for reliability and would be much smoother. The old M3s put out 192hp from a non-turbo 4 cylinder and that engine was not worth the pretty penny, but they were more fuel efficient. Don't do this to a 4 cylinder. Start with a 6 cylinder! Weight distribution could use tweaking and why is this a 6-speed? That's what you get for hiking up the hp. Engine can't handle the power!
The Rally Heritage is very appealing. I wish more manufacturers would offer their Rally Car versions to the mainstream. The blue provides a very good looking car.
Remove/reduce wing-more problems w/sidewinds than it helps. Rear visibility-LOL! Fix oil leaks! Audio nonexistent. Gas mileage lousy for 4 cylinders (Uncles Z06 better mileage&POWER) Treadwear worse than expected. Close to redline for max hp. Should have saved for a new Vette :(
This car will probably be the funnest car to drive becuase of its power and stability. It will out run any car in the $30,000 range, no other car can touch this one in that range period.
The fact that i have a 300HP turbo charged boxer engine
this car is really nice all around except they should work on the exterior look..even though that kinda evens looks fine for me
Just an all around beautiful car and totally fun to drive. this car has everything i have wanted in a car.
you have to love the exterior/interior design.
LOSE THE PINK ! RED IS JUST FINE !
All I can say is stiff suspension, whiplash power, and more wiplash power for the passengers!! This thing is a beast that can put the all 300 horses to ground. Thanks to AWD!
Great Ride, the car is all and all just great the interior has a great racing type look to it.
Everything about the car is substantial
a little more choices on interior
If you havent taken one of these babies for a spin, you dont know what your missing out on....so find out!
THE BOOST, which enables the LAUNCH!
The Subaru WRX has got to be the best car that I have ever purchased. Where I live there are tons of dirt roads that most cars just can't get through. I've been using SUV's for the past 16 years and I enjoy driving cars more than SUV's. The new WRX has made my life so much easier by having AWD and I get all the comforts of a car that i need. Thanks Subaru for making such a great car!
the AWD is great... helps with those curves and the acceleration
its a great car
is all around greatness
be careful of cops
everything about it is great
makesure you get the actual harness instead of the regular seatbelt
Keeping it under 4000 rpms for the first 1000 miles was a royal pain as the engine just wants to be driven in the 5 to 7 thousand range. Not that low rpms led to low torque, just the opposite. But once that first 1000 miles was over, it was pure joy to drive. The brakes are superb and the driver's seat range perfect for my 5' 11" 158 lb frame. The instrument panel has to be seen to be appreciated unlike any other on the market
Engine, suspension, brakes, tires, interior, exterior, what can I say.
As long as it wouldn't harm performance, better gas mileage.
World class performance all the way. Absolutely increadable - I have never been more satisfied with a performace car purchase. I think this car is an increadable value - I have to stop typing now and go for a drive :-)
The power and handling - the utility of 4 doors and a good sized trunk. Truly an amazing package.
I'm used to European performance cars so the only minor improvement would be better night time illumination - ambient lighting and illuminated switchgear would be nice - not complaining though - I love this car.
Well, all I gotta say is that this car is a performance machine, looking to kick some 8 cly rear-ends. It's a beautiful machine which has no pity going fast. It still surprises me how powerful it is, even after a month of owning one. :)
Everything. It was done almost to perfection.
The only negative thing would be the rear wing/spoiler which blocks my view when looking back.
What else can I say? It is simply amazing once you start the car. All fun just begin.
Power, power and power.
A bit more road noise for daily driving. But it's definitely bearable. Again, it is built for the tracks.
6000 miles already this car is just solid on every situations !!! Power, handling and fun !!!
DCCD, 6 SPD, Torq !!!
I waited 10 months for this car to come in. It was well worth the wait. The car has 300 horsepower, 300 ftlbs of torque, All wheel drive, 6 speed, 3 limited slip differentials. It does over 100mph in the 1/4 mile and handles like a slot car. I find myself doing weird errands just so I can go out and drive. It's is like your best hot wheel car you ever had as a kid, except that you can drive it.
Handling, power, Very friendly Subaru dealers and service team. The availability of aftermarket parts.
The tires are very soft, will need replacing in less than 10K miles. There should be an optional stereo. The DCCD should be an option, while I am sure it works great, the computer does a far better job in auto than I could do in manual. STI Floormats.
Got my STI on 7/9. All i can say is, this car is fun as hell to drive in. If i could, I would sleep in it. If anyone is thinking about the STI, stop, dont think, just go out and buy it. Its worth the price its selling for. Very minimal turbo lag. I have had nothing but compliments from people who see me in this car, and this is even coming from people who dont like imports.
Just about almost everything this car came with standard.
Make a stereo and speakers standard. current turbo doesnt hold boost very well. For all the advertisements Subaru makes of the 300hp, its a big grrrr that on the dyno, it only pushes 262 to the wheels so you dont feel much of G-Force pulling you back to your seat.
After having my WRX for two years I turned it in for the STi. The dealership, of course, did not allow a test drive and they also kicked it up a bit above MSRP. The problem which occured was with the seats. After driving it home my back ached. I figured I would fiddle with the seat more. After two weeks my back was not better the seats just didn't fit me correctly, hence I was forced to sell my STi recently.
Power at all RPMs, grippy tires, neat looking seats.
More control over the lumbar support in the seats, up the interior quality mine started to rattle after 200 miles.
ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS CAR IS WICKED AWSOME..Its the best car I've EVER drivin' in my whole entire life and i recomend it to anyone
its a stardard
I have read about this vehicle for months but my surprise came when I bought it...This car is unbelievable! It's not for everybody because of the stiff ride and raw perfomance. But I love it! And I will enjoy it for years to come. Thank you Subaru!
Precise transmission, power, suspension.
This car will beat the crap out of the lancer
I have had mine for about 3 weeks now and the break in period is done. Performance: WOW! This thing is a rocketship. Its a real eye-opener for those goofballs in Vette's, Mustangs, etc that think since its a Subaru it isnt a performance car. Too bad the only part they will be seeing much of is the back!
Engine/transmission are very strong. Styling is very aggressive and take some getting used to.
A little nicer interior would be great. Maybe a little noise dampening.
Least expensive Viper-type performance money can buy. Incredibly docile and comfortable in every day driving conditions but is always ready for sling-shot-like performance. A truly well engineered automobile that makes driving a ton of fun.
Quality of fit and finish; quality components;you know your driving a very responsive, high performance car.
The rear wing always catches your eye when you use the rear view mirror - you think there is another car nearby.
I get excited just thinking about driving my STi. What a great car. The power is awesome but even better is the handling. This car brings new meaning to corners like its on rails. This is my first Subaru and first all wheel drive car and will definately not be my last.
Engine, suspension, interior, exterior, transmission, wheels, brakes, clutch, switch gear, climate control, limited availability, four doors means I can scare three friends at a time. .
I'm stretching here - I don't like the chrome S U B A R U spelled across the rear of the car, it clutters up the whole area. Give out flyers to hand to people when they ask you about the STi. More horsepower. Truthfully 300 is enough but more is better, right?
I wish the price could be a bit more cheaper. And none of you young or older people could afford it only me cus im more into rally then you.
300 HP Big turbo Nice car beats the EVO8 in a landslide no turbo lag AWD Rally car out of the box.
None really i wish none of you could afford it and i hope this body style will be here for a bit more longer so i can buy it.Make the hood and wheels more like the rally car and add the roof vent like the rally car.
Like all Subarus, the STi pushes power through all four wheels. But it offers the singular advantage of what the marketing mavens call a "driver controlled center differential." In automatic mode, sensors seamlessly divide the power among the wheels according to road surface, throttle opening, rate of acceleration and cornering force.
18 inch wheels, better cooling
Hands down the best Porshe / Mustang / Ferrari / Vette...EATER on the planet!! For the money, you can buy two STi's and beat the above guys twice!!
Lots of Power / Handeling
tinted windows / stiffer rear wing.
This car is great. It has outstanding performance and reliability. Believe me...when you press on the gas you will not believe the power and performance it delivers....well worth the money!
power...handling...feeling of being in a rally car.
could use a little more comfort on the seats...(the seats are really fine, just I can't think of any other suggestions)
When you own the STI, you are getting Subaru's inhouse tuner and they also work with Prodrive for their WRC car. This car is as close to driving the WRC Rally car as you can get here. 0-60 in less than 5 secs and it will eat corners and airborne over apexes. Watchout M3, S4, pushrod American muscle cars! This is the car the will decimate all.
DCCD, 6 speed tranny, 300HP, 2.5L engine, big spoiler, gold BBS wheels, and gold Brembo brakes.
Change the seats to JDM spec!
A much better choice for a daily driver than the Evo. The 2.5L powerplant was an excellent choice. Excellent buildy quality and looks. Gold rims are catchy, especially with my metallic black paint with golden fleck, matches perfectly. Looks xtra sharp. Only complaints, tight back seat, little sloppy feel on the tranny.
Engine-2.5L 300 HP All Wheel Drive-Such control! Potenza Tires-from the factory? these are STICKY! Build Quality-excellent Looks-better than the Evo
Downsize the trunk, put more room in the back seat, it's cramped back there. Recaro seats-the in house specials are good, but for a car like this, mmm...recaro More options-for those who want extra (heavier) stuff and those who don't!
hella awsome kiks the pants off a camaro
the awd electromagneticaly controled center diff
Incredibly fast with great handling, though road grip is best during acceleration-- it diminishes when easing off the gas. Still, the car easily takes ramps or highway curves 25 MPH above signs. Very limited body roll. No tire screech with the stock "summer" tires and AWD. Torque is fair at 1500 (5th gear is possible at 20 MPH). Impressive torque above 2500. Seats are a bit hard for long rides (1 hour +). The suspension is very stiff-- moves over rolling roads (barely noticeable bounce) but absorbs potholes / rough pavement very little (even small ones are obvious). The inside comfort is limited-- but then this is a rally car.
Acceleration and handling. Fairly easy to drive around town--fairly easy to rapidly exceed speed limits. The high intensity discharge lights are a very nice touch for a rally car (especially since they are height / angle adjustable). Great lighting at night.
The idea the radio (and speakers) will add weight and thus diminish performance is a bit absurd. Audio should be standard. I'd like to see an option for some Subaru WRC rally logos. GET WINTER TIRES (if you live around snow)!!
The Best in subaru line of Subaru cars.
This car can embarass muscle cars especially in the corners where it counts. Superb engine, no real turbo lag unlike my previous WRX.This is thanks to the bigger displacement and valve timing. All wheel drive is great although I have reservations as to how necessary the DCCD is. Also the suretrack front diff seems to enhance understeer not reduce it and makes a grinding noise when it is working as it is mechanincal as opposed to viscous.
The sound of that boxer enging and the turbo. The BBS wheels and Brembo brakes are nice too.
More bolster in the seats, I belive they reduced it somewhat to accomodate overweight Americans. The EVO lancer seats are what we should of been in the car.
pulls hard with very little throttle, in any gear, at any revs above 2000rpm. Very sharp steering and handling. Grip is solid, but tires need to get more miles before I know exactly how much...
Acceleration! Standing start is tricky.
Adjustable suspension. Higher rev limit.
Subaru has done it again. I Was so impressed by the WRX. But the WRX STi is a true Driver's Car! Amazing! If you like fast cars you will love WRX STi! POWER, HANDLING, SAFETY, AWD, what else would you need! It is a MUST BUY!
300hp Horizonally-Opposed Boxer 4cyl engine. Symetical Drivetrain, Driver Adjustable : Differenial lockers, Differential controls, Head Lamps, Waterblast for intercooler
If you're looking for a no compromise performance car and can't yet afford a 911 turbo than the STi is worth a look. The STi is total function over fanfare and one spin through your favorite twisty road will prove it to you. Power is stout over 3,500RPM handling is crisp after you get a proper wheel alignment and the tires are as close to race rubber you can get for street use. The boxer engine makes a sweet exhaust note and the styling turns heads. I have never seen so many thumbs up while driving a showroom stock car.
Excellent brakes, HID headlights,300hp & 300ftlbs torque and racecar like grip.
Climate control illumination color should match gauge panel. Floor mats would be nice. The lamco boost gauge is a real let down for $200 very sorry I got it. Hey Subaru STi/Defi hint hint!
After driving the car for a few days, I can honestly tell you that there's not another car in the world like the STi. With no turbo lag, the car pushes you back into your seat even when starting from a dead stop! The car is great on the inside and out and is packed with gadgets and goodies for all kinds of people. Unfortunately, you'll be lucky to get 270 miles to the tank. All in all, this car is perfect for anyone who loves to drive and doesn't mind spending the extra time and money for upkeep.
- DCCD - placement of 6th gear
- either improve gas mileage, or install a larger gas tank (I'd rather not have to gas up every 270 miles!)
I can't believe how fast this car is. Virtually no turbo lag and grips like flypaper! But there is no way anyone can do the quarter mile in 8.7...hjkhl is mistaken, unless he did some heavy modifications. Maybe he meant the 1/8 mile?
The handling and acceleration
Put a radio in it! Like that's gonna save weight. It saves COST, but not that much in WEIGHT.
This car is the best I ever drove. I really loved the Preformance. It is amazing for a car at this price. If "you" ever get a chance to dirve one, don't hesitate. It might just be the best experiance "you" will ever have driving a car.
Add a split follding rear seat and standard audio systeme
