2008/09 Subaru Impreza STI

Re: '09 WRX tease :) [aaykay]

Anyway, better late than never ! The only question is, why does it take Subaru more than one try, to get it right ? New to Subaru are yah? ;) 1998 2.5RS = 2.5L DOHC, small fogs, whacky interior, different brakes 1999 2.5RS = 2.5L SOHC, large fogs, white face gauges, different brakes, normal interior 2002 WRX = same brake pads as the 01 RS, bad 2nd/3rd gear trans issue, ... 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX

Re: MT or AT [spagball]

I'm surprised with the poor sales on the AT WRX. I am not surprised at all. Subaru deliberately crippled the AT version, with a 4-speed AT, when even $13K Honda Fits have been appearing for several years with a 5-speed AT. On top of that, from the 2008 model year, they quietly removed the VTD Differentials (Center differential with planetary gears that split power ... Read More...

Subaru Impreza and Impreza WRX STI Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: Subaru Impreza 2.5 Auto, 5 Door w/ Prem Pkg Pricing [redsnare]

I am a happy new owner of a 2.5i Auto 5 Door w/ Prem Pkg. Picked it up from Ramsey Subaru (http://ramseysubaru.net/) out in New Jersey. My sales price was $18798. Here's my buying experience: 1) Went to edmunds.com, sent out requests for quotes via email to Subaru dealerships in NY and NJ (I'm in NY) 2) Within a few hours I got a phone call from an Alex P. from Ramsey: ... Subaru Impreza Clutch questions

Re: clutch replacement? [paisan]

thanks much Mike! I've got air tools but i do know how difficult it is to change a clutch from a laying position vs. working under a lift. I think that i'll follow your lead and pay my local trusted mechanic ...with a lift. Many clutch options - is this the one that you were referring to? http://www.car-stuff.com/store/?N=11735+4294967264+1719+11921+9191 Exedy ... Read More...

STi Review

Ok, so I finally am able to sit back, relax, and give you guys my impressions of the 08 STi, first hand, non journalist view, non professional view of it.... Let me preface my write-up in that I've been a Subaru fan for years, starting in the late 80s when my cousin bought a 1988 XT6. I bought my first Subaru in 1997, a 1988 XT6. It wasn't perfect, the air-suspension needed ... Read More...

2002 Impreza 2.5 RS CEL Problem

I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS with 64K on it. I have had a few issues, all resolved to date (head gaskets, fuel lines, intake manifold cracked, loose heat shield, center console electrical problem). Now, I have a recurring problem that is starting to tick me off. The CEL. It has been going on and off for quite some time now. I brought it into my dealer (I work for ... Read More...

Re: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX Second Opinion [dino001]

Yeah, TSX is closer than the Accord, though actually the TSX is almost exactly the same size as the Legacy, and both are sedan only. I guess the new WRX is close in size to this Legacy, and the next Legacy will likely grow, so we probably will see some cross shopping. It's funny, when the 2002 came out, there was a guy shopping a WRX vs. an Isuzu Vehicross. Seriously. ... Read More...

Re: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX Second Opinion [dino001]

OK, gotcha now. You almost gave me a heart attack there. I need to switch to decaf. :D I doubt a limited-slip diff costs more than an open diff in its place plus VDC. If it did, the WRX would have gotten VDC back in 2002. Subaru launched the Outback VDC in 2001, I believe. I'm sure VDC+open diff cost more and they waited until they felt enough pressure from the market to ... Read More...

Re: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX Second Opinion [dino001]

Meh, to me, "Legend Reborn" is pure marketing nonsense. I'm sure Kia's marketing would have you believe they make the best cars in the world, too. So what? It's meaningless. Get TiVO. Honestly. Stop watching commercials, and you just won't care any more. I don't. We agree that the competition is much stiffer than it was in 2002. We disagree about the "cheapening" ... Read More...
