We initially were looking at the Crosstrek and perhaps the Outback.
The dealer mentioned the Forester and we took it for a drive.
We quickly forgot about the other two.
Test drove Ford, Nissan, Honda too.
When I drive the forester MPG- city/hwy 25/32.
When my wife drives, which is most of the time, city/hwy 22/29. Overall a little disappointed in the gas mileage perspective, but it does better than our 2009 Camry!
Price paid- 28423- Limited, option pack 2, remote start, splash guards, all weather mats. Briggs in Topeka went very smoothly.
Visibility exceptional- big windows!
The power lift gate on the limited trim is great.
The leather seats are nice and better than I expected for stock leather (vs getting the premium trim and aftermarket leather).
Rear camera is nice and the door cup holders too.
Also like the added storage under the floor mat in the trunk area. The moon roof is fantastic and opens extremely wide.
Child car seat Lock system is easy to access- As a parent of a 3 year old this is extremely beneficial.
Lastly, the safety features are excellent.
You can see the large metal bar that runs through the middle of the rear passenger door as it locks into the bottom frame of the car when you shut the doors.
Storage- middle console is small and difficult to get to much deeper in the console.
Need more small storage areas.
Why isn't keyless ignition an option on trims below XT touring- with added option.
The location of the keys rubs on my knee- I'm 6' 1".
We got the remote start option, but when you open the car door the car shuts off and you have to restart.
Keyless ignition should be and option on Limited and above.
The ride is a little bumpy, but overall not a deal breaker.
