Very Good Overall Package
By premx11 on

2011 Subaru Forester 2.5X Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl 4A)

This is a very good overall package and an excellent value. Car is very sure-footed in rain and snow. Has comfortable ride and seats. Excellent visibility, has responsive brakes, steering, highly maneuverable, great sun roof - helps cool car quickly, responsive engine - a bit noisy on cold start, but smooth and quiet thereafter, excellent hauling capacity with rear seats folded, 4-speed AT is a bit antiquated, but shifts smoothly and is responsive. Integrated TomTom GPS & w/audio/video takes some time to figure out, but is not hard to use thereafter once you understand the controls. Mileage between 16 mpg in cold, city driving, & up to 29 mpg on the highway, w/overall ave. of 21.5 so far.

Favorite Features

Responsive, smooth, quiet engine once warmed up; heated front seats; sunroof; 10-way power adjustable driver's seat; responsive brakes; backup-camera (was added as an optiion to the TomTom package); hauling capacity; visibility; tight turning circle; steering wheel audio controls; both attractive and practical exterior design. Have not found a single item that needs adjusting or fixing in 1700 miles of driving in a mix of highway and mostly city driving. Everything works!

Suggested Improvements

Improve quality and wear resistance of interior materials; improve the design of the controls and switches; use a more modern transmission for improved gas mileage; move heated front seat switches to a more visible location; make engine quieter on cold start; re-design TomTom option to be more intuitive and easier to learn and use; put a light in the glove compartment; add a storage pocket to the back of the driver's seat; eliminate the requirement to disable the AWD when using the mini-spare; add height adjustment to front passenger seat.
