We love our Forester, for the most part.
It is the perfect size.
I don't have to sink down to get in and better yet, don't have to yank myself high up to climb into it. Driving it is fun, very responsive and great turning radius. Visibility is excellent and parking is easy.
However, we have 2 strong complaints and a minor one. First, the radio is terrible!
The fm sounds like hollow am radio.
Next, the passenger seat is highly uncomfortable, non adjustable, and sunk down so low it's hard to see over the dash.
The minor complaint is storage. Glove box is tiny, cup holders are square and bottles routinely fall over. In-door cupholders are also flawed.
Fun to drive!
Easy to see out the back.
I have bought many new cars in the last 28 years or so (non of them high end cars) and have never heard such a lousy audio system.
It is hollow and tinny sounding.
Raising the base improves it a bit, but not enough to really hear the music right. Such a nice little suv should certainly have a decent sound system, the 11 forester does not.
The other major complaint is the terrible position and lack of adjustments for the passenger seat.
We both love the driver seat, set it nice and high and find it pretty supportive. The passenger seat is so low it feels like you are sitting in a hole and your knees are way up in the air if feet are flat on the floor.
Shame on Subaru for these flaws.
