Autoblog review

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/29/first-drive-2010-subaru-outback-has-character- -for-everyone/ They agree with me...it is now one fine looking wagon. And while some may like the looks of the Forester better, the Outback rides much better and gets better mileage as well. Read More...

2009 Forester engine ping "They all do that"

Re: 2009 Forester engine ping "They all do that" [tmedo1]

Hello, I have also posted on the Impreza forum about this - but my 2008 Impreza 2.5i (auto trans) does almost exactly the same thing -- pinging -- within two months of purchase. High octane gas doesn't help. Pings on hills, pings on acceleration, pings at low rpm's between gear shifts, pings pulling away from a dead stop - and the car is also slow to downshift when ... 2009 Forester engine ping "They all do that"

Re: 2009 Forester engine ping "They all do that" [grahampeters]

Pinging should not be happening in a modern engine, if you are using suitable fuel. Graham, Agreed, but the sound may not be pinging. The exhaust manifold rap on some Subaru fours might confuse a new owner. My four had it but my 3.0R six does not. Dave Read More...

Re: 2009 Forester engine ping "They all do that" [tmedo1]

G'day Pinging should not be happening in a modern engine, if you are using suitable fuel. Try running the vehicle on Premium Unleaded from a single source for a few tanks. If you can source Shell's Premium Unleaded (it might be branded as Optimax or V-Power or some other name but typically 95-98 RON with detergent additives). This has the benefit of improving fuel ... Subaru Forester Lease Questions

Re: 2009 Forester Lease options [vitasthefetus]

Hi vitasthefetus. Subaru's lease program varies by trim level, term, and mileage allowance. I don't believe that you mentioned what any of these variables are, so for now I will have to make some assumptions. Let me know if you want something different. Subaru's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Forester 2.5X ... Read More...

Re: 2009 forester lease [cspro]

Hi cspro. The Forester that you described probably has a spread of around $1,900 between its full MSRP and its dealer invoice price. The dealer discount that you were quoted is much higher than that. Plus, the money factor that you were quoted is right ion line with Subaru's buy rate for this model. If you like the vehicle, I personally don't see any reason not to ... Read More...

Re: 2009 Forester engine ping "They all do that" [tmedo1]

You are correct. This reply by the dealer is pure bull____. I agree no modern car should have this problem in this day and age, Ask your dealer if the Porsche Boxer or 911 have this characteristic. They have the same cylinder layout as Subaru. Read More...

Re: 2009 Forester reliability in CR- why just average? [saedave]

I copied my comments about interior/exterior quality posted above into an e-mail that I sent to Subaru. Their customer service rep has replied and assured me such e-mails are reviewed at their monthly product planning board meeting. She also is passing them on to my dealer. However, as I told her, our dealer is great, and we have no complaints there. But we all ... Read More...
