2009 Subaru Forester

Re: Likes and Dislikes of your 2009 Forester [prndldriver]

Hi, I would like to know how did you proceed to ajust the front passenger seat, With the Dealer? Yes, 2009 Subaru Forester is a very good car, I live in Quebec Canada and with the snow that we have here, it is a must. My wife has also a 2004 Subaru Impreza. Have a nice day, Excuse my english! Valve/engine woes. Should I call it a day?

Valve/engine woes. Need advice.

Hi. I could really use some advice, but first some background. Let me first say that I love the Forester, and I'd buy another. My 2004 Forester 2.5X currently has around 68,000 miles and is less than five years old – it was taken care of very well. On a few occasions (before 60,000 miles), usually going uphill, my car would feel like it was about to stall, but the dealership ... Read More...

Subaru Crew Problems & Solutions

Re: 2004 Forester Connecting Rod problems [aatherton]

A scrap yard might be good place to get new engine parts. You might contact those in the NorthWest part of the country as there are many more Subarus up here than most places. Read More...

Re: 2004 Forester Connecting Rod problems [tanager]

"... 2004 Forester XT with 105K miles... bought it in 2006 and it had 58K miles on it then... connecting rod is knocking into the block and that my engine is basically shot... I have been excessively diligent with the maintenance on this vehicle... Does anyone think I have any recourse with Subaru over this?" Maybe the first owner abused the engine or was not so diligent ... Read More...

Re: 2004 Forester Connecting Rod problems [ateixeira]

Yes I am shocked too. And I just found out that a rebuilt engine is going to run me more like $4600. I am at a loss. Does anyone think I have any recourse with Subaru over this? I am planning on bringing it to my local dealer to see if they can offer any assistance, but I fear that's going to end up costing me even more in the long run. Read More...

Subaru Forester Brake Questions

Re: Try [paisan]

OK -- I'm new to this forum and absolutely mechanically-challenged, BUT - my question is re: my 2004 Forester 25XT. At the end of this past winter, when I braked in slippery/snowy conditions, the brake pedal actually vibrated intensely, actually pushing my foot back upwards. This happened whether I slowed way down before braking, or if I braked gradually from ... Read More...

2009 Subary Forester - Real World fuel mileage

I am considering the purchase of a 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5X Limited. Before I do, though, I'd like to get input on what type of mileage folks are getting in the real world. It would help to know what type of driving you do (% city/suburban/highway), how you drive (cautious, average, aggressive), city/combined/highway mileage and how many miles you have on the ... Subaru Forester Scheduled maintenance costs

Re: scheduled maintenance costs [bette608]

The Subaru dealer here in Salem, OR quoted me $860 for the 30K maintenance on a 2004 Forester (I have 33K as of today). Their quote includes a few things I don't see on in the maintenance schedule that came with the car. The biggest $$$ are for these two: Throttle body induction service Carbon fuel service (they use a system called TerraClean) I also see Air intake ... Read More...

A Forester that no one can repair?

A Forester that no one can repair?

My 2004 Subaru Forester has been in the dealer's shop for eight weeks as of this morning. And there's no end in sight. After taking it in for what I thought was a minor issue (the "check engine" light was lit), I've been waiting through all sorts of possible repairs. First, the throttle position sensor was replaced, then the car's program control module, then the ... Read More...

2004 forester retail value - opinions needed

2004 forester retail value - opinions needed

Hi all, I am taking the fall from my Beloved Cherokee with 198,000 miles on it to a Subie and all of your opinions are appreciated. I found a nice 04 black forester XS premium package, 5 speed, sunroof, heated leather seats, one owner in excellent condition with 53,000 miles. It is at a Subaru dealer. The price started just above $15,000. We are down to $13,700. NADA ... Read More...
