2008 Scion xB - new design... love it or hate it?

Let's see....2004-2006 xB's in various states throughout the U.S. are getting hit with pebbles in the same spot on the windshield which in turn creates the same "L" shaped crack? C'mon!!! I am on my fourth windshield with only 9,000 miles on my 2006 Xb. First file a complaint with the NHTSA. Then, call Scion, 1-866-707-2466. They will say they have no records of complaints, however, they will be very helpful and call your dealer directly to arrange a replacement windshield free of charge with no labor costs. I too just bought a 2009 Stingray Metallic xb. I traded a 2006 Ford Freestyle that had lots of room, but the 22 mpg at $4.00 per gallon hurts when you live in a rural area and it is 20 miles one way to anywhere! I wanted a 4 door hatchback to suit our lifestyle, so I test drove the Nissan Versa, Chevy HHR and only sat in a Honda Fit (felt like a shoebox!) The Scion won me over ... Read More...

You're dead on with the 12K pricing. I have seen the Gen 1 priced from $11.5 to $14999 in the classifieds within a 80 mile radius of DC. And those are 2004-2006 years. Resale has really been good with the spike in gas prices and I am thankful that I"m not paying $50 for a fill-up. I stopped for gas yesterday and a Tahoe was across from me filling up. I basically think that Inside line and many other car magazines are out of touch with the kind of person that bought the original xB. I and everyone I know in the club i am in bought the xB for its size, room, and fun styling. Being able to customize it also was a big draw. I've got a 2006 xB, and just this week, the windshield cracked for a second time after a stone hit it while driving on the highway. The first time, last summer, I didn't perceive any impact to the windshield; it just was cracked one morning when I got into the car. If you are sticking with the OEM stereo and not adding an amp, then you need something efficient. I would probably go with some component speakers - put the mids in the doors in the place of the factory speakers and try the tweeters in the dash in place of the factory speakers.
