I have a Scion xB, 2005, 60k miles that will not start. It started about a month ago you would have to crank it 4 to 8 times and then it would start and then after it was running it would start fine the rest of the day. My MPG is just fine in my XB. I just tallied the MPG on my 2005 XB with auto. 330.3 miles and filled 9.7 gal. right up to the top of the filler neck for 34.05 mpg. Travel is 75% highway and 25% city. Highway speeds during this tank were up to 70 mph on my 70 mile daily round tripper. MPG has been very consistant with the EPA figures since my 3rd tank way back in 2005. I usually ... Read More...

Change your air cleaner element. Something most people don't even think about. Very important to at least knock the chunks out of it but better to replace with high quality cleaner element. Then check it every few thousand miles. Will make huge difference. :) Read More...

How much oil did the tech refill your XB with? Some owners have reported significatntly lower mpg with oil overfills. The owners manual states that 3.7 quarts are requried but some techs don't measure too closely and overfill it. I've never redeemed my 3 free oil changes from Scion as I don't trust the oil change techs. Over fill is said to reduce mpg as well as the ... Read More...

I just filled the tank on my 05 auto XB. MPG with a bottle of Shell V Power injector cleaner added was 34.88. Temps here in the outlying areas of Wash, DC were slightly warmer last week and I believe that it was a factor in my MPG. I add the injector cleaner about once every few months. After the first time it broke off, I had to manufacture bits and pieces of material because the mating parts on both the hatchback and the handle broke (all plastic), so I couldn't glue it back together due to the broken pieces.
