So I bought a used 2004 Scion xB. When I bought it, the guy who sold it to me said that he had gotten the windshield replaced and he thought that they didn't seal it well so it might leak once the rain sets in (it was summer). Sure enough, it leaked with no visible cracks. I just got the windshield replaced (after paying someone to attempt to reseal the one ... Read More

You're dead on with the 12K pricing. I have seen the Gen 1 priced from $11.5 to $14999 in the classifieds within a 80 mile radius of DC. And those are 2004-2006 years. Resale has really been good with the spike in gas prices and I am thankful that I"m not paying $50 for a fill-up. I stopped for gas yesterday and a Tahoe was across from me filling up. He ... I don't revel in exceeding the speed limit, and only do it under conditions of low traffic and good road conditions. I recognize that higher speed always reduces the safety margin for an unexpected maneuver. On my recent trip I exceeded the speed limit by 5 mph because most of the other vehicles were doing likewise and I had long distances to cover in specific time intervals because I was sleeping ... I agree with KarenS 100%, Scion abandoned me when they released the second gen xB. The new car is an insult to the quirkiness of the original. In terms of market segment and sales, I would wager a bet that the average age of owners has climbed dramatically for the xB and demand is down overall compared to the launch of the original xB. Or is it best to have them cleaned by other means? I'm pretty handy and would like to do it myself if possible. Advice? Thanks-- Samuel Duncan Austin, Texas

The tiny gun turret windows/high beltline and huge C-pillars are a big mistake. Sensible design, practicality and safety lost out to Toyota's styling department's decision to copy GM's and Chrysler's mistakes. Unbelievable. Then again, they'll probably sell a ton of these to the 50-70 year olds, secretaries, grannies, and college girls etc. that seem to love that nasty PT Cruiser. No doubt Toyota conducted multiple styling clinics that told them that ... Read More

I purchased what was probably the last black 2006 manual transmission xB to ship to the Bay Area (my vehicle was manufactured in December 2006). So far, I've consistently averaged 30 mpg. Your whole argument is just wrong. By federal law, the car makers can only report the mileage estimates that they get from EPA designed tests. EPA sets the test procedures and makes the rules. If they post other numbers for the car, higher or lower, they get in trouble. Hybrids always did well on the EPA tests and were WAY over what folks get in the real world. If they wanted ...
