Re: Torn between a 2006 Aveo and 2006 Toyota Scion XA (NOT THE HOST HERE) [Mr_Shiftright]
i cant' help but laugh... ;) the scion dealer here was outstanding too. very helpful and was wearing a suit :) the chevy dealer was not smoking but was a lot more relax, no suit or tie and we felt like we were wasting his time because we were not ready to buy that day...my husband and i agree that we would buy from the scion guy and the good thing, that dealer sells, toyota, ... I would pick the Scion xA
because I feel like it is more of a car enthusiasts's car. It just seems to be a "funner" package than the 2007 Nissan Versa. However, the new Versa is a good deal and looks to be a comfortable car to drive. I have not driven the Nissan Vera but I have driven the 2006 Scion xA and loved it. I like it's 32 mpg city and 38 mpg highway getup, too. On the test drive of the xA I brought ... Read More...
I have found out some more information
about the Scion xA. Apparently Scion will stop making the xA for 2007 and come out with a brand new design for 2008 that will be out in the spring of 2007. The current brand of Scion xA for 2006 will continue to be sold, probably until all 2006 Scion xA's are done being produced. I would think that anytime leading up to the spring of '07 would be an excellent time to get ... Read More...
Re: Scion xA. [flightnurse]
The engines and 5 speed were completely replaced in the Focus starting in 2003 when the 2.3 PZEV motor jointly developed by Ford and Mazda was rolled out in "green" states in the hatchbacks. In 2004 the same motor was rolled out nationally (only PZEV in green states), but displacement dropped to 2.0. Still, HP jumped 6.0 over the prior Zetec (in non-green states ... Read More...
Re: Torn between a 2006 Aveo and 2006 Toyota Scion XA (NOT THE HOST HERE)
Seems like the only persistent "complaint" of sorts with the xA is that for some people the AC doesn't cool down fast enough on a really hot day. Mine's pretty good but you do have to use the MAX FAN setting, which is loud. Once you've driven 10-15 minutes I can cut down to #2 setting on the highway and #3 setting on city streets. I'm sure the Aveo is a swell car. I only bought ... Read More...

Is the Versa right for me?...
Hi all. I've been lurking here for quite some time and want to extend my appreciation for all the helpful info. Here's my question: My wife and I are expecting a child soon and are moving to California in 3 weeks, at which time we will purchase a car. I have been looking at: Versa, Corolla, Scion Xa and Xb, Matrix, and a couple Hondas. We are a bit concerned that, with ... Read More...
Re: Torn between a 2006 Aveo and 2006 Toyota Scion XA [andy_h]
The Mexican parts thing is just that, Mexican as far as I know. Those who build in Canada are considered U.S. built and it has been that way for decades. The Aveo has 6% domestic content similar to the Nissan and Toyota's sub-compacts. Read More...

Well, Mr. Moroney: Do you think a Ford built in Mexico with Mexican parts and labors and a GM built in Canada with Canadian parts and labors, American? Read More...
Re: Torn between a 2006 Aveo and 2006 Toyota Scion XA [andy_h]
I suspect that the parts in NAFTA vehicles move over both borders in both directions. The Aveo is thoroughly Korean (I think, I haven't checked the Moroney labels lately). Read More...
