Love It!
Vehicle
2006 Scion xA 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 4A)
Review
I love my Scion xA. Not only is it cute, it defies the laws of physics: it is small on the outside but big inside. I am 6' tall and weigh 250 lbs. and am very comfortable in this car. The stereo is excellent. My driving is all city and I get about 30 mpg.
Favorite Features
I love the stereo, power everything, and air conditioning.
Suggested Improvements
Make cruise control standard. Having it would have been nice for when I go on the highway.

2006 Scion xA 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 4A)
Review
My 2006 Scion xA is rattle-proof, very easy to drive, and has excellent fuel economy. I did 40 mpg on third tank of gas.
Favorite Features
The standard stereo sound and firm but comfortable ride.
Suggested Improvements
I would have liked cruise control as standard equipment., but for the price I can do without it.

2006 Scion xA 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 4A)
Review
The Scion xA is a funky little "Mini Cooper"-like buggy that is a blast to drive. It has Toyota / Lexus quality with standard power windows, doors, mirrors, ABS, 15 inch wheels, and a kick butt 6 speaker stereo that will even play your MP3's. It is near the top in gas mileage and, unlike the Mini, runs on regular. Despite its size, the front seats are roomy and very comfortable. The driving position / view of the road is similar to driving a minivan or an SUV. It handles well. The ride is a little choppy on uneven surfaces though. The engine provides ample power, but is a bit anemic when the car loaded. For $14,070 out the door (plus tax/tags), how can you beat it?
Favorite Features
The interior design and comfort, Toyota quality, standard features, gas mileage, price, stereo, and funky looks.
Suggested Improvements
Add keyless entry, a moonroof, and give it a little more housepower.

I use my Scion xA for mainly city driving. After driving larger cars this is a great model for moving in and out of traffic. I haven't done a lot of highway driving with it, but it has handled well in all four seasons.

Review
Anyone who thinks the Scion xA is just for the young and hip needs to look again! I'm 32, and I drive 80+ miles each day. The xA is a great commuter car and it has plenty of room for my family of three (plenty of room for a car seat). Its gas mileage will vary with driving style - I mostly drive highway, and find that mileage is directly related to speed. If you keep it under 65, you will get 35 - 37 mpg. At speeds over 65, you'll see low to mid-30s. My lowest mileage to date is 31 mpg. I absolutely love this car! It handles like a go-cart, and does great in snow and rain. While its acceleration is not neck breaking, it has plenty of pep for every day driving.
Favorite Features
The large windshield with great visibility. I love the wheel mounted radio controls (new on the 2006 model). While remote entry is not standard, door key allows the unlocking of all doors by turning the key twice.
Suggested Improvements
Make an armrest standard. This was a must for me, so I paid for the option... Give it a higher gear ratio for 5th gear. In 5th gear, you will get 20 mph for each 1,000 rpm. In other words, the engine is turning 3,000 rpm at 60 mph. I've gotten use to it, but I'd like to see the rpm lower at highway speeds.

My Pricey Christmas Present to Myself

2006 Scion xA 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 4A)
Review
The Scion xA 2006 is an awesome car. The buttons and displays inside the car are very easy to use, and big, so I can wear gloves and still push everything. I love the stereo controls on the steering wheel. It has lots of room inside the car, especially lots head room for those vertically challenged. I love how you sit in it when you're driving, instead of lying down. When driving you can see right over all the normal sedans, and this helps with driving in traffic.
Favorite Features
I love how euro the car looks. I love how the seats feel (sitting in a chair), the audio controls on the steering wheel, how compact the car is compared to the interior space, the fold down seats in back, great MPG, and low price.
Suggested Improvements
Better acceleration. Keyless entry be standard. Make the entra space where the speedometer should be into a place to put driving directions, right now they slide off when you turn a corner (add a lip on the sides and bottom)

2006 Scion xA 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I've been attracted to the Scion xA from the first test drive. It's utilitarian, reliable, fuel efficient and fun to drive. And it's so darn cute! But I almost didn't buy it because Toyota does a terrible job of supplying dealers with cars that have both a 5-speed transmission and side head/torso airbags. Finally, I found one with the side balloons and bought it. I'm glad that I did. The first tank of gas delivered 35 mpg overall. I knew that Nissan, Honda and Toyota (with the Yaris) will debut similar little hatchbacks next year. The spy photos of those cars revealed they lack the elan and classy look of my xA. I'm sure that the xA's cache', and it's excellent fuel economy, will ensure it retains a high resale value.
Favorite Features
The 5-speed transmission is smooth and the clutch is silky. The center mounted instruments took no adjustment time and are preferable to other configurations. The steering wheel mounted audio controls are a nice plus. The first two gears are "short" and help make chugging through snow pretty easy.
Suggested Improvements
I would have bought the car even more quickly if cruise control (not offered at all) and keylesss entry (an option) were standard. Also, the engine revs at 3,000 rpm at 60 miles an hour. This is a little high for turnpike cruising, but okay for my needs which only occasionally requires expressway driving.

Review
This was my first new car puchase, and I feel confident that I made a great choice with the Scion xA. I drive about 60 miles a day with work, and I'm averaging 34 mpg which is about as good as it gets without putting out the money for a hybrid. The size of the car is deceiving from the outside, it feels very spacious inside, even in the backseat. The cuteness of this car cannot be denied, you want to pinch it's cheeks.
Favorite Features
The stereo rocks! I love the seating position, up high. The cabin quality is above average for this price range.
Suggested Improvements
My wishlist: the steering column would move in and out as well as up and down, the rear wiper would be variable speed, shouldn't keyless entry be standard for every new car?

Awesome Car!

2006 Scion xA 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 4A)
Review
I love my 2006 Scion xA. I'm 16 years old and I got this car for my birthday and it is awesome! The car dealership was awesome! It is a great first car and a good car for go back and forth to school. I get lots of compliments and I love the interior (especially the silver accents). We test drove a 2005 xA and the pickup was bad, but it has improved some for the 2006 model. And the speedometer was very easy to get used to. And I also love the stereo conrols on the steering wheel (very convenient!). But overall, the best thing about this car was the price!
Favorite Features
I love the side turn signals on side mirrors, stereo, speedometer location, comfort of the seats, roomy interior, stereo controls on the steering wheel, the cargo cover, and the price.
Suggested Improvements
none
