Here is the comparo that Eldaino mentioned between the fit/xD. Myself I like the fit but its body and lack of horsepower kill the car for me. The car is in its 6th or 7th year of production so that makes it a outstanding car considering how long its been out. The xA is the way to go. The Corolla and Matrix will drive you nuts trying to find one that isn't either stripped, or loaded. The xA only comes one way - loaded (except wheels), but at a cheap price. The engine, pickup, cruising speed etc. in the xA are all the same as in the Matrix or Corolla. It has a smaller engine but it is a slightly lighter car so it evens out. The xA ... Read More...

The engines and 5 speed were completely replaced in the Focus starting in 2003 when the 2.3 PZEV motor jointly developed by Ford and Mazda was rolled out in "green" states in the hatchbacks. I am a very happy and proud owner of a 2004 Chevy Aveo that I bought brand new (being 22 years old, it was my first new car). At the time, I had it down to the Aveo and the Scion XA on my shopping list. After much comparision the Aveo to me seemed like the obvious choice. The Scion to me didn't seem very impressive. Hey micweb, We have had my wife's new 2006 Scion xA for a few days now and I really like driving it. It is a total blast to rip around in...I mean drive in (*cough, cough). Anyway, the ride feels more civil than my daughter's 2004 yet it takes the corners rather well. It has some roll in tight turns but it seems to be more lateral tire roll than suspension. Congratulations on your '06! I still miss my '04.... Can you let us know what rpm the car is turning on the freeway? As I recollect, my xA manual turned 3,800 at 80 mph (not that I drove that fast). Also, since you have a 2004 too, will you let us know if the ride/handling of the '06 is the same or different - the '04 I owned had a VERY stiff suspension. Handled great, ride ... Read More...

We bought my daughter a 2004 Scion xA with an automatic transmission. We live in Houston and during the summers experience between mid 90s to over 100 degree temps. Her AC has performed just fine. I read an article in Consumer Reports that stated that the Scion 2004 xA's have had issues with the AC however we have yet to experience that. In fact we pick up a new 2006 ... Read More...

To funny.Some get great mileage some dont. Gas mileage depends on more than the sticker on the window. It depends on tire sixe(like 15" wheels vs 18" wheels),tpye of gas used (87 gets the most mileage v 89 or 93 ,because its whats the cars are designed for 87). Scion xb's odometer is 5% too low

I have owned an xb 2004 since April 2004. I noticed pretty quickly that the odometer reads 5% too low. That is if you drive 100 miles, it reads 95 miles. There was some discussion of this at Scion Life and as I recall this problem occured in both xb and xa in 04 and 05.
