EDITORS' RATINGS OVERALL SCORE:

Overall

RATING

Toyota's reputation for excellent build quality follows through to the Scion line. The tC is spacious and sporty--a nice combination.

DETAILED EDITORS' RATINGS

Dynamics

RATING

Family-car engine is torquey, but doesn't like being driven hard. Tame handling can bite during certain lift-throttle situations.

Comfort

RATING

Good ride/handling balance. Plenty of interior space for occupants.

Function

RATING

The interior layout is generally good, but the HVAC and radio lack simple knobs for things like volume and fan speed. Shifter position and operation are clumsy. Cargo room is quite generous.

Design/Build Quality

RATING

For the price, it's hard to find this level of material and assembly quality. And it looks good, too.

DETAILED PROFILE:

Daily Commuter Good MPG.

Economical Transportation Toyota reputation at a lower MSRP.
