Scion tC is an Amazing Car

I bought my Scion tC about a year ago and it has been my transportation all over the northeast. I get amazing gas mileage, with the high gas prices it has definitly helped me out financially. With all the options on the tC you can really call it your own car. Scion's manual transmission is great, it has better pick up better than my friend's Camaro, not to mention the steel sport peddle covers that you can have put on and the 6 different shifting knobs you can choose from. When you buy your tC you can choose to have neon lightss installed above the two front riders feet and in the cup holders which gives the interior a truely incredible look. I recommend the tC for anyone that wants a great car.

Scion tC, if your taller than 5' 5"

If your taller than 5' 5", this car is probably not for you. I'm 5' 10" tall and I have had the seats in every position. There is no position that I am comfortable in. The steering wheel is too far forward for the average height of a man. When the steering wheel is in a comfortable position my legs are in the birthing position and very cramped. When my legs are comfortable, my arms are fully extended. Don't even think about being able to recline the driver's seat, you'll never reach the steering wheel. Toyota needs to take men who are taller than 5' 5" into consideration when designing vehicles. Otherwise the car is excellent in all other aspects, but the lack of comfort ruins the whole car for me.

Should I drive it?

I just bought a silver 2005 Scion tC with 20,000 miles. I took it in the first week for bubbles on the dash and new carpet. The curb turning to the right is blinded. Backing up is blinded in the rain with no rear wiper. The front cup holders are hard to get to. The doors are too large for compact parking. The window ledge is too high for arm resting. The dashboard reflects way too much light inside. The air conditioning is not nearly cold enough. The trunk is hard to pull down while holding other items. There is no outside trunk latch. It takes two hands to turn the steering wheel. The seat belt is hard to reach. It has lots of road vibration. It scratches and dents easily. My head and foot hit getting in and out.

Good Idea...

Coming straight out of college, this inexpensive coupe was at the top of my list. The tC has great features and standard options. I love the moonroof, interior finish, etc. It has a great power band, I love the torque. Its 17" wheels with Potenzas, can't beat that for $17,000. Having said this now that I've driven it for a year and a half, I wish I could sell this thing back to Toyota. Mine sounds like a baby rattle inside. The hatch, dash, and moonroof rattle even on smooth roads. I should've waited for the '06 Civic Si. This car was such a great idea, too bad. I will never buy a Lexus thanks to this thing.

Best of the best

tC is the best of the small coupe market. I drove up to Boston from DC in mine and only had to fill up two times. The tC is great for the passing lane as you pass the small nasty Civic.

Good car, but be careful...

While reading over the reviews of the `05 tC posted here, I agreed with everyones' comments but just wanted to inform all owners to be careful of a little problem. Up until a couple months ago I loved everything about my tC, but beware the wind deflector on the sunroof. As you all likely know, there was recently a recall for these requiring a laminate be installed. My warning: This laminate doesn't do its job. My fiancee and I were recently on vacation when the deflector decided to shatter out of nowhere, while driving, sending loose pieces of glass into the car, hitting myself in the arm and even scratching my fiance's sunglasses (I had the laminate prior to this). Just wanted to warn everyone.

Best Bang for the Buck

I purchased my tC a year and a half ago, it now has 32,xxx miles. Stepping down to this economy car from my 1990 LS 400 with 200,xxx miles was a wise decision, especially with skyrocketing gas prices. I average around 26-28 mpg mostly highway, my highest on single tank was 32 mpg. I once fit 3 adult friends + me + mountain bike in it. I replaced the hatch struts at 30,000 miles =( . Also, it has spongy brakes. The large tire / fender gap makes it feel like I am driving an SUV. Please remember that the tC is an economy car and in stock form is a nice daily driver. It has a soft suspension and seat belt buzzer. Many of the tC's pitfalls can be remedied with upgrades. The tC is the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and sportiness (or lack thereof). I am happy with my purchase.

Best Inexpensive Sports Car ever

I bought the Scion tC not knowing what to expect because it was the first time it had been introduced in the market and there were no reviews. We knew the engine was that of a Camry and for the price we liked the style and features. My wife and I fell in love with the car after test drving a demo car. The salesmanship was great for there were no pressures to buy. We then test drove a Corolla, Jetta and a Civic and for the price, the Scion was way under priced. Ever since we bought it, we have enjoyed the confort, speed, moonroof, looks and smooth ride of the car that is definetly top notch. I've had many cars and the tC is the best small coupe ever.

I had to unexpectedly buy a new car. My last car was a Ponitac Sunfire. What an upgrade! My tC is so awesome! I love it so much. I got it in red with the painted rims. It looks so hot. I get asked a lot of questioned about it. It's a great looking car and it's great to drive. I am very happy with my car.

The storage room in this car is great. I had four 16" wheels and tires from my truck in the back once - no problem! Love the reclining back seat. The front seats have good support, but the leg room in the front is cramped. The stereo sounds best when it is turned up loud. The power is amazing for a car of this type and it is fun to drive.
