Thank you for you help with this. I guess I am going to get rid of my Saturn. Last year, I spent $1400.00 for the catalytic converters and in 2008 $800. for the Fuel pumps and fuel filter. I am tired off putting out a lot of money on it. But I do appreciate your help!

Make sure that your battery is good - I've heard of issues where the battery had enough juice to light the dash lights but not enough to power all of the electronic gizmos including the anti theft system. Even with the padlock lit the car should crank if the battery is ok, it just won't keep running. Post back - I'll check in. Good Luck

The "padlock locked to a car" light you are describing indicates that your vehicle likely has a content theft-deterrent alarm system. Are you planning on visiting a dealership to have this looked into? Sarah GM Customer Service

Rattling noise when starting
I have a 2008 Saturn VUE 4 cylinder. At about 30 some thousand miles it starting having a loud rattling noise only for a few seconds after starting the vehicle. Happens mostly when the car is cold but sometimes does it even when the car is warm. Any ideas or anyone else had problems like this.

Wendy, our Vue has the same problem. After researching the internet I found out if you disconnect the battery for a while then reconnect it. The heat-defrost was working again. Try it out its not going to cost you any $$ Good luck

Have them check the under hood junction box connections, that fixed all my problems. They found it by accident after weeks of trying to find the problem.

I don't think that they've involved Technical Assistance. I have spoken with Customer Assistance though, they're the ones who set up the first appointment for this problem a few months ago. I've done some more research, and the struts for the Chevy Equinox, and Pontiac Torrent are available. To the best of my knowledge both are built on the same platform as the VUE. ACDelco part #'s 506-690 & 506-691. $195.00 each. Ouch. Still searching for the strut mounts.

The Vue is still under warrenty and they just order a strut mount and a strut bearing. Hope this resolves the rattle. This is occurring on the same side as yours and they already replaced my rt frt strut but still did not correct the problem.. I have an XR with the same rattle but out of warranty. I am advised the rt frt strut is faulty inside. Cost to replace both almost $700.00 with no after market. However, you still have the rattle. I will be interested in what Saturn does next. I am reluctant to have it repaired with the knowledge that you still have a rattle. Does Mcpherson itself warrant them ?

I am wiring my motorhome lights to the Saturn lights for towing. I would like to wire in under the hood instead of pulling up carpet, etc. to run all the way to the back of the car. Can you tell me the colors and location under the hood of the wiring for the brakes, running lights and turn signals? Thanks!

Yes those statements are accurate. The Saturn Vue Hybrid models 2007 and 2008 are based upon the BAS system - for belt alternator starter. Basically, BAS is a big motor-generator in place of the vehicle's normal alternator. The big motor can deliver 6.7 horsepower at speed, and 48 pounds-feet of torque the moment it begins to turn, according to Saturn.
