2005 Saturn VUE Fwd 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Early this year I unloaded a 12mpg SUV and was looking for a small SUV. I looked at a number of SUVs and settled on the Saturn Vue. I was also looking at a 4 cyl but the dealer said I would most likely be happy with the 6 cyl. Well I have more than happy with this car. My insurance went down due to the 5 star Saturn crash rating. The mpg is very good considering the engine cranks out 250 horsepower, more than enough when you need it.

Favorite Features

I've experimented on trips with the mileage and here are the results. At 65 mph I got 30 mpg. At 60 mph I got 31.6 mpg. Around the city I get 22-24 mpg. So I am satisfied with the fuel economy. The sound system and ride comfort are also very good.

Suggested Improvements

The interior is "regular guy" type interior, nothing to write home about, with irregular placement of controls such as windows. For those who like to maintain their own car, maintenance manual is hard to get unless you buy it from Saturn at $180. Expensive

2005 Saturn VUE AWD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I really enjoyed my 2005 Saturn Vue. I had to give it up though because of the monthly payments, but I would buy another one in a heart beat. I wish the gas mileage was better at 22, but hey its prety good for a SUV. They improved the exterior design alot in 2007 and redid it in 2008, so I can't complain there. We only had the gas cap fail the emissions, other than that we didn't have many problems. I recommend it!

Favorite Features

6-CD disc changer, seats, sunroof, it was loaded!

Suggested Improvements

Design, but then again they already did that! For 2008 they went too small, but also came out with the Outlook.

My Saturn Vue was a pleasure to own. Never had a thing go wrong that required a trip to the dealer. I love it and highly recommend the Saturn for trouble free ownership.

Favorite Features

Reliability and lack of need to ever have any repairs except routine.

2005 Saturn VUE AWD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I bought this car new in June 2005 when I traded in my Nissan Maxima. The Vue is no Maxima. It has great power, reasonable fuel economy, looks great and has more room than the other vehicles in its class (Santa Fe, Xterra, CRV) The only issue I've had has been with wheel bearing/strut assemblies, they covered it under warranty but I had to fight like hell to have it covered. I'm at 83k now and it is still fun to drive. I'd like to go for something larger but who can afford it let alone the fuel. I can get about 600kms on a tank of regular going about 97km/hr on the highway, big difference in fuel if you drive 120k/hr. You gotta take the V6 out for a drive if your looking at this segment

Favorite Features

What can I say, the engine and AWD is great, I never got stuck and we had a bad winter in 08.

Suggested Improvements

Seats not that comfy if you do a long drive. No way wheel bearings and strut assembly should go, I drive very easy now that I've got a family. This stuff should last until 100k easy, mine was at 60k when I needed the work done.

2005 Saturn VUE Fwd 4dr SUV (2.2L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Since I became the owner of my 2005 Vue, I can truly say it has been worth the purchase. I use mid-grade gas and I can get up to 300 miles to a tank. I have also learned how to maximize my horsepower by down shifting to the lower gears. The versatility and roominess have helped me in carrying my sons and my work load. Keeping it clean has been quit easy. The only problem I have truly had so far is keeping the stains off the fabric. Other than that, this car has been a great addition to our family.

Favorite Features

My favorite features include the sunroof, and the folding chair in the front.

Suggested Improvements

Suggestions for improvement would include starch guard the fabric so that it can resist stains better. Also, the division of rear seats would be better at a 60/40. Finally, too bad it does not have a third row that folds up and down when needed. Also, the 4 cyl. needs to be at least 160 hp.

Review

Owning this car has been a great experience. Overall handling is absolutely great. The Interior could use some added features (Storage compartments around the stick) which I noticed they did on the newer models but for the most part it has lots of room (Love the pop-up grocery carrier). Great mpg's for this car although it could be improved. I'm sure they have done this with the newer models as well. As an owner I love this car. No problems with it so far.

Favorite Features

Fold down seats and the grocery carrying pop-up feature. Did wonders for hauling plants.

Suggested Improvements

MPG Improvement and more pockets around the driver for carrying maps and such.

Review

This is our first Saturn we have owned and it is by far the best vehicle. I love the room it has and the fold away cargo, I get a lot of compliments on our Vue. We have not had any major problems with it. We will definitely buy another Saturn, we are extremely happy.

Favorite Features

The fold away cargo and fold back seats. The room is remarkable.

Suggested Improvements

Could use better gas mileage.

Review

4 cyl 5 speed manual nice little VUE, good handling but little light on the power. Yet, not impressed with the MPG so far. 22-24 in-town and hi-way but have not had the Vue long enough, bought it coming off a lease at 25Kmiles, for the Lucas injector cleaner to work. I also own a 96 SE Coupe 5 speed manual and love it at 140K miles getting 30+MPG using Lucas Injector Cleaner. I used an engine analyzer and it appears the O2 sensor may not be working quite right as it should toggle between about 0.1V to 0.9V (pulse width modulation) which is between lean and rich. Might be more on the rich side. The dealership will look into this as it might be the cause of low MPGs.

Favorite Features

Handling and size, just right for two and camping equiptment. Love the engine compartment, lots of space, easy to get to most anything.

Suggested Improvements

Better materials used in the interior. Better MPG for a 4 cycl. Should come with Nitrogen gas filled tires for better mileage.

2005 Saturn VUE Fwd 4dr SUV (2.2L 4cyl 5M)

Review

When we bought our Vue we were excited for the Saturn vehicle. We'd never had problems with our other two and we are not disappointed now. Neat vehicle. We like sitting "up" a little above traffic and the SUV roominess in the back. Could be better with gas mileage. The sticker is a little misleading 29hwy/23city. We get around 25 & 21. This is a lot better than our old Suburban, though.

Favorite Features

The moon roof! Way cool

Suggested Improvements

Better gas mileage. With front wheel drive and a Saturn, I expected better. Also the cabin of the vehicle is loud when driving. Could be the tires, but perhaps the "light" weight of the vehicle.

2005 Saturn VUE AWD 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I own a 2005 Saturn Vue AWD with 37,700 miles, last week while driving home from work the vehicle just stopped running no warning at all, dashboard lights went out except for the rear defogger which at that point came on and wouldn't shutoff. I emailed Saturn Co. and received a response, denies knowing of any recalls for the vehicle, ( I found dozens of complaints all over the Internet) suggested I take the SUV to the dealer . The Saturn is still setting at dealership. I called them prior to taking it in,and was told they had one or 2 vehicles with same problem, I go in and now they tell me this never happen before. I hate this car!!

Favorite Features

Plenty of room,good sound system

Suggested Improvements

Saturn should redesign the electronic system and get better safety inspectors
