Review

Good little car. Rides well even after all these years. Had the brakes replaced a few times (once under warranty, alternator replaced twice but other than regular maintenance & oil changes haven't had much problem with it. Still gets good mileage. It's not the smoothest running car or the most powerful but it is a very economical and easy to drive car. Except for a few dings the body still looks good. I still drive it everyday but will soon give it to my son who needs an old economical car to drive back and forth to work. After 15 1/2 years I,m going to miss it.

Favorite Features

Plastic body still looks good. Easy to see out window when backing up Good cargo space with fold down seats

Suggested Improvements

husband complained of tight fit no automatic windows

Review

This car was bought with 33,000 milesWe are the second owner, the saturn experience at the dealer has always been great. The saturn dealer takes care of its car owners and never takes advantage of them. This car has 4wheel disc brakes and traction control and 15"sport tires, this makes it hadle very well when pushed hard.the gas mileage has always been great, and is better when staying at 65mph or less.over the life of the car we have replaced 2 mufflers,6 sets of disc brake rotors,1 set of brake pads,1 altenator,1dome light,1 setplug wires, platinum plugs,2 coolant bottles(magnet sensor inside bottle was fault)and 3 egr valves covered by warranty.

Favorite Features

#1 corners well @2 beats 4.3 liter s-10s at the stop lights.(all models except syclone) #3 dependable high rev motor #4 great on gas #5with blizzak tires the traction control works great in winter snow and ice. #6 modern body style #7 plastic body they cannot be beat.

Suggested Improvements

#1 the sound system is very poor. #2 the ride is harsh #3 better egr valves #4 thicker brake rotors(vented) #5 better sound deadening inside with less squeaks and rattles. #6 more backseat room for child seats. #7 bring back the telescopic steering wheel.

Review

Bought this to replace a well-used 1991 SL. With only 66K miles on it so far, things look real good. The interior is in tip-top shape. Can't beat the deal for fun go-to-work car that doesn't break the bank. Doesn't burn any oil!

Favorite Features

Good ergonomics. Stereo w/EQ sounds good.

Suggested Improvements

Transmission shifts when it wants, needs to be made smoother. Water leak from roof. Interior A-pillar moldings break too easily. Gas mileage could be better: 27 highway. What happened to the legroom from the 1991 models?

Review

I have enjoyed the handling of the car, some road sounds, but not too bad. It would never fit a larger person, and if a taller person drives, the rear passinger is cramped. At 43K it went through a timing chain and now again at 79K. They claim the oil needs to be changed every 3K or 3 Months, not 91 days or 3001 miles and they mean it. Dirty oil plugs a tensioner on the chain causing it to fail. Yes you can see the engine and all parts, very well thought out. I would not purchace another one because of the poor timing chain design, but never had any other problems.

Favorite Features

More than enough power, handles turns like a sports car.

Suggested Improvements

Get rid of the hydrolic oil tensioner and put a simple spring in, a lot less can go wrong. Push the rear seat back a few inches for a little more room.
