We purchased our used 2007 Saturn Outlook less than one year ago. I am both disgusted and elated to see that I am not the only Outlook owner describing the same transmission issues. I have a 2008 Outlook with 67,000 miles. I, too, have a 2007 Saturn Outlook with both a sun roof and a moon roof. We had problems with leaking and took it back to the dealership before Saturn went out of business. They dried out the carpet (mainly on the front passenger side) and installed drain tube extensions. We didn't have any more problems (to our knowledge) until the bad rains on 1/9/12. Yep, I usually keep my 2008 Saturn Outlook under a carport, in a garage or covered but a little over a year ago I had it outside during the day and a quick rain came by. I had a small leak and the sunroof was wet and dripping. I took it in and paid the GMC to tell me it was a clogged drain tube...I now doubt that was the problem ... Read More

Hello, i had the same problem in October of last year after constant complaining to the dealership about the car overheating and not going in gear. They took the car and said there were alot of parts that came loose and apart inside the engine. I too identified a sunroof water leak several months after purchasing my 2007 Saturn Outlook. I then spent the next year working with the dealer to have it repaired. After 5 tries it was supposedly fixed and i was given an extended warranty (really only covering oil changes) for my trouble. Mobaybaby, I also have the 09 Outlook, with similar performance issues. What I have done to resolve the issue is increased my oil change frequency. After I took it to my dealer for the issue originally, they performed some bogus circuit board replacement. I encountered the issue again shortly after. Doesn't the powertrain warranty cover anything? I just looked it up (prob with a 2007 Saturn Outlook) and it goes up to 100K or 5 years. Maybe I am just being hopeful, but.... i want to have some hope.

From reading hundreds of complaints about leaking Saturns, the "outlook" for help isn't promising. I filed a complaint with the Institute for Highway Safety, as I feel that these vehicles may not be safe to operate on the roads. I have been there! My car always smelled moldy since the 'submarine incident'-Not to mention the electrical issues!! I spoke to a service manager for GM (off the record) and was told that I should expect more problems in the future. I took mine to Champion Chevrolet in Tallahassee last year and I have not had the roof leak since. They tore the interior apart and fixed the problem. We have had some pretty heavy rain and I have even taken it through a car wash to make sure the problem was fixed and I have not had a leak in over a year. Other problems, but no leaks.

yes they are aware of the leaks, there was a recall to bring your outlook in for the extensions on the sunroof tubes. I filed for the lemon law on mine.

We took it in to have the recall fixed and about 2 months later, after a rain storm, we backed out of the driveway and could hear water in the dashboard area, moving around. Today is December 30th and I'm happy to report that GM is buying back my Saturn Outlook. Every complaint contained in this blog is 100% accurate. I really mean it - don't take anything for granted. Yes! In fact I took my 2007 Saturn Outlook in 6 times - it leaked over and over. I contacted GM Customer Service after the 4th leak.. in the process of negotiation, it leaked 2 more times. Believe it or not, but we have a few hills here in Florida. I kick off the cruise control when I'm approaching a hill because of that very problem of the Outlook's sensitivity to an incline. Look at the tachometer. If it's over 2100 rpm, slap the gear shift into Low and punch the up + button on the shifter's left side. That's what I do.

Maybe you should try what I do. I too love the size, performance and features of this vehicle. I use the manual shifting option and leave it in 4th or 5th gear for cruising around town at that 45 mph range. Much better performance. It must be the 6th gear and desire for the gas mileage rating that causes the "hesitation". The 6th is basically an overdrive, and I use it ... Read More

I actually like most things about the car, but I totally agree with you that the transmission control is HORRIBLE! What's pathetic, is that mechanically, the transmission is fine. It's the "brain dead" computer that controls it that's the problem. I think it suffers from inadequate CPU horsepower.
