Don't do it! Don't expect any help from GM or anyone if the car goes nuts. I tried to get help from them and all they wanted to do was schedule me for an appointment. I asked her, "How the hell can I schedule an appointment and get the car in if it won't start?' She couldn't answer the question. Never again for a Saturn or GM product. GM= Great Mistakes ... I am currently purchasing a 03 Saturn Ion, Standard, Cruise, 6 CD player and the lot..... The vehicle was owned by a GM employee and was maintained by GM dealership. Assuming that if they had an ignition cylinder issue it has been dealt with along with most other issues over the years. However I did notice excessive wear on the key itself. [new keys coming with purchase btw] On that note, ... Read More
I have been having the same issues with my 2003 Saturn Ion 2. I'm a bit upset because I purchased the car less than six months ago from a private dealer. Keys stuck in ignition? Although I am not a mechanic or knowledgable as to how ignition switches work these days, since the advent of locking stearing wheels, all vehicles I have owned have had that issue when force on the steering column is applied to it due to residual pressure from the tires applying pressure back to the steering column. Unaware; I have somtimes turned into a parking spot, even into ... Read More

Greetings fellow Ion owners! I tend to agree that this is something that GM should have handled better. But as for my personal situation, it is fixed. For how long I don't know (and I'm not holding my breath) but for now I'm up and running again. I DID take my 2003 Ion to the "GM Certified Saturn Service Center" at a dealer. One thing for sure - It is NOT a battery problem - Many owners have been taken by dealers and service centers. Furthermore, it is NOT a problem caused by the climate. Just bought my Saturn a month ago from a private seller, 30,000 miles on it and I love the car. However I am having issues with the power locks. Two days ago the lock button on my remote wouldn't work, (as a matter of fact none of the buttons would work, the trunk release, horn, nothing)I tried the button on the inside of the door to lock the doors and nothing ... Although I can't speak for any 04 IONs, we bought a 2003 Saturn ION 2 with automatic transmission new in 2003 and we love it. We put almost 78,000 miles on it. I also took it to the dealership and they told me it was not my battery but if I wanted they could charge me for a full diagnostic etc. I decided against it. They told me I may have something to do with my ignition..however I ... Read More
I have had the same problem (intermittent no start) with my 2003 Saturn Ion 3. Of course, there hasn't been any rhyme or reason and I've been hesitant to take it to the dealership, it's out of warranty and I have very little confidence in them. We had a computer put on it to read the codes (this morning), however, there hasn't been any stored. Do you know if it will ... Read More
