I'm not happy with this mileage, but now Saturn is gone and I doubt anyone is reading this blog anymore anyway. The comment about the Aura's 'vinyl-like' leather sparked my interest. So I went to the Honda dealer today and sat in a 2008 Accord with leather. To be honest, it was only marginally better than Saturn's. You wouldn't mistake either them for the rich, soft leather in, say, a Mercedes.

noles, what incentives there are on Honda Accord? I guess there should be a lot. When redesigned Camry came out my friend bought new 4-cylinder Camry for the same price as certified used one with 30K miles on it. Initially he wanted to buy certified used Camry, but every one we tested had some defect or issue and dealer did not want to deal - never saw such an arrogant bunch ... Read More

I spoke with Chad in their customer service center and he informed me that once production begins on October 15th we can expect to see the new Malibu in showrooms within the next 4 to 8 weeks (I guess it depends on how far you are from the plant in Kansas). Saturn Aura: A Redline version of the Aura is set to arrive for 2008 model-year. It will be powered by a high-output variant of the XR's 3.6L V6. Some speculate that it will use the new Direct-Injected 3.6L, which would bring it close (if not over) to 300 HP. AWD rumors have also been thrown around, but not confirmed.

I just read, on the Cadillac web site, that the 3.6 VVT engine in the CTS will be bumped from 255 H-P (2007) to 300 H-P for 2008. What are the chances that most of that increase is in the EMC and that the Cadillac EMC would be "Plug-n-Play" with the Saturn Aura??????

The Aura's build quality is likely the same as the Malibu. They are built at the same plant on the same platform. The current Malibu isnt all that attrative but it's build quality is just fine. The 2008 Malibu is much better looking though. Saturns actually had worse build quality than other GM makes until recently because of the polymer panels. Main reason I bought the Aura XR and not the Impala or Malibu was the 3.6 V6 +6 speed auto. I was very close to a purchase when a used Aura XR came to my attention. If the Chevy's had had the 3.6 instead of the 3.9 OHV I would be driving a chevy Impala now.

Yes, same platform. BUT if you are referring to competing with each other then you should look at Michelle Krebs data here at Edmunds. Looks like there is very little cross shoping between Saturn and the rest of GM.

Newbie here: Somebody correct me if i'm wrong but won't the top-of-line malibu be very similar (mechanically) to the Aura XR-V6? The Consumer Reports auto issue "new models" section lists the new malibu as having the 3.6 V6 and a 6-speed AT. Also, is the 6-speed AT the one jointly developed by Ford/GM?

Add a new Astra and new VUE in 2008 and you will see an all new Saturn, one worthy of it's service reputation.
