Review

This car, an Aura XR, is provided by my company so this is an unbiased review. The car is "nice" but devoid of personality. On the highway, a lot of road noise finds it way into the cabin, and around town a lot of engine noise and vibration can be heard and felt. Handling is ok, but no better then a lot of cheaper subcompacts and most mid sized sedans. After playing with the seat, steering and pedal position controls I have found that it is not possible to find a comfortable driving position. I cannot drive the car more then 30 minutes without my entire body aching. Fuel economy is nowhere near what I expect, I have a 2006 Vue which has more power and gets 2-4 more mpg.

- Seat and pedal position memory. - Better fuel economy - A deeper trunk - Smoother engine - Better sound system, the upgrade stereo has a muddy sound and poor high frequency response - More power, I don't believe the HP rating - A least one larger cup holder - Better handling

Review

Beautiful car to look at and fun to drive. The 6 speed trans is nice but shifts up and down trying to find the right gear often. Car does wonderful on the highway with lots of power to pass and take on the hills. Car has lots of room in cabin and trunk. Gas milage is not as good as advertised. Visibility is difficult at times, see below. Cup holders seem small, like they're for kids cups.

Favorite Features

Powerful engine, great looks, large trunk space, easy to use controls, heated seats, leather steering wheel is very comfortable to hold onto, panaromic sunroof is a focal point to everyone that gets in

Suggested Improvements

Improve visibility (the front pillars are very wide and hide oncoming traffic when pulling out from an intersection), better gas mileage, shifts a lot, trunk should come up farther when released

Review

In the mid-size sedan class I was torn I have owned a Honda Accord and a Toyota Camry. After driving the Saturn Aura and experiencing to "Saturn Sales Experience", I knew that I was set to purchase the Aura! The five star safety rating was important to me in making my decision as was the trim level for the price. My car is equipped with leather, a sunroof, remote vehicle start and six air bags. A comparable Luxury brand would have cost me a lot more money. I have the 3.6 liter V6 which makes me feels like I'm driving a Cadillac or Corvette!

I like the XM radio

Suggested Improvements

The engineers should have integrated a "blue tooth system" into the car, but I understand the partnership with Verizon and Onstar.

Review

An absolutely terrific car. I love it more every day. Wise move to put the Honda & Camry on the lot, as Aura has absolutely nothing to hide. For what you are paying this car is awesome.

I like the sliding armrest.

Key to trunk, drive Indicator on dashboard.

Review

I love my Aura! I have alot of friends who can't believe it's a Saturn! Comfortable and quiet, a pleasure to drive! I recommend it!

Favorite Features

The "creature comforts" that are standard make life much easier! The Driver info screen, automatic on and off lights, the sterring wheel mounted cruise and audio controls are also standard! Dosen't look or feel like a base model.

Suggested Improvements

The fuel economy could be a little better. Other than that don't change a thing!

Saturn Aura XR

Review

The car is incredibly quick considering it weighs in at 3700 pounds. Handling is superb as is braking. Transmission shifts so smoothly (perhaps the computer is smarter than old technology) and the ride is incredibly quiet, probably due to the sheet metal and the construction of the windshield. Interior is finished so very well although the rough plastic might leave something to be desires. The trunk is huge and the back seat folds down for extra space. The ride is firm, perhaps firmer than many would expect given the car's size and weight. The radio is great and the satellite stations really enhance the selection and the sound. A beautiful car with so many standard features included.

Favorite Features

Engine performance is great (if it can be chipped, the horsepower can be rasied to 270; let's not forge that this is a Cadillac engine); braking, handling and appearance are superb. Many think this is a European car. I look forward to the heated leather seats in winter. The AC is fabulous.

Suggested Improvements

The installation of an under hood light would be great. Something other than the rough plastic finish on the inside of the doors would enhance the car.

Surprises everyone

Bought this for my wife on July 16th, and we have been nothing but overly impressed over the last month we have owned it. I just got back from a lengthy road trip to visit family, and in addition to being a great car to take on a road trip because of its superb merging/passing power, ample room, solid handeling, super smooth, comfy ride, and great stereo, everyone that saw it was impressed, as well... and this is from people who normally drive BMW and Lexus. We got the white XR with the tan leather interior, and it's a sophisticated look that even the teenager it the house thinks is cool. With the sharp European looks and great ride, I feel it's the best kept secret in town.

Favorite Features

The car's sophisticated stying and finish, smooth ride, great power, and the feeling of the steering wheel. Also, having a superb midsize sedan while also not being like every other household on my street that has an Acura TL/TSX (Did I mention I think it's the best kept secret in town?).

Suggested Improvements

Bad cup holders (cannot carry two coffees at once... easily, anyway); don't like the armrest on the driver's side door (too low to rest comfortably on long drives), and no "seek" button on the steering wheel for radio/XM (like I said, very minor stuff!).

A GM that I am impressed with!

I have never been a fan of GM products but they got it right with the Aura. The car has ample power and the handling is decent too. I am not sold on the interior, but overall it is a very capable car.

Review

We love this car. The Morrocan leather highlights this quiet, taut, responsive This car is a fire breather. Previous cars included Pontiac, VW, Nissan, Toyota, Chevy, and Mercury. Nothing comes close to this marvel. As someone who wouldn't have considered a Saturn in the past, the Aura has changed everything. Most of our driving is freeway and the mpg is surprising and excellent - significantly better than the advertized (28/20)- with the cruise on.

Favorite Features

We love the attention-getting appearance, the ability to accelerate at any speed, and the dealer who goes way out of the way to make sure we're satisfied

Suggested Improvements

A middle arm rest in the back seat would be nice.

Smooth Quiet Ride

Review

Bought the XE with the Special Edition package on July 31, 2007. Traded in a Mercedes E320 for it. Never thought I would buy a GM, but this car took the cake. I compared it to an Acura TL (which was a notch above), but the extra 8K did not make sense. Wife and I are both loving it. I hope it holds up in the long run (we are used to Toyota's).

Favorite Features

Smooth quiet ride. Quieter than the E320. Interior with the Morocaan leather is beautiful, so are the 18" wheels. Performance and handling is good. XM and other audio features are great.

Suggested Improvements

Some cheap GM plastic is still there. The cup holder cover does not latch reliably. Have to struggle with it. Brakes are spongy. Car is heavy. Almost same weight as a E320 and heavier than a camry. Mileage should have been better. Audio quality not as good (boomy bass).
