Service on my car was included up to the 30,000/36mo service. But looking at the service book, most items are listed as check this and check that. The car is 3 years old and I have had the 36mo service. The car only has 20,000 miles on it. I saw a blurb or two about this under news for GM today (which has since been buried under news of earnings warnings and the like). I agree with aerodriver. I had more problems with my Toyota 4Runner than I ever had with either of my Saab 9000s. And far less severe problems than our 2002 Honda Odyssey or our Mazda Millenia S. Congrats Wilb! You'll love the Saab. We're nearing the end with our 3rd Saab, 2002 Steel Grey Wagon. This one is a lease and I DON'T want to turn it in. If Saab financial would give me a decent buy out, I'd buy it but that's not looking good at this point. So May 11th could be a sad day here. Hands down if you like the looks of a Lexus, go with that. Saab won't come close in terms of reliability or cost/hassles of repair. Our 2002 9-5 needed new rotors after 25,000 miles. And the last year we've had it in the shop 16 times. Mostly warranty-covered items breaking, but still a big hassle being at the dealer every 3-4 weeks. And if you encounter any major problems, ... I think 2001s would be more in the $12k range now. My 2002 with 35k miles on it was only worth $12-15k retail a few months ago - dealer said wholesale was around $9k. Read More...

I feel for the people with problem vehicles. I had a Chevy Blazer than was a nightmare.   But I leased a 2000, 9.3 that didn't have any problems - i miss that car.   I now have a 2002 9.5 Areo that has had only very minor problems. A headlight fell out while driving and scratched up the paint - the power cables kept it from falling off, so it bounced around until ... Read More...

I feel compelled to reply to the recent string above. I have driven both a 9000 CS and now a 9-5 Aero (2002 model) for the last 8 years. My problems have been minimal (none with the Aero). Having said that, I had my share of woe with my old 1988 900, but most of those issues were taken care of during the warranty.   The point, to the many online readers thinking of buying ... anyone have trouble with the transmission on their 9-5? Never had a single problem with my 9-3, but the 9-5 has been a piece of junk. And saab won't do a thing about it. Car has trouble getting into 2nd and 3rd gear, hesitates and dogs out, engine light keeps coming on...   tried trading it in and found out two years later the car is only worth $12,000. Read More...
