Re: Purchased Used 9-5 ?? [shack502]
You can do your research to tell for sure but buying Saabs used is a great way to go - if they check out mechanically. Like you (now I've owned two used Saabs), when I bought my first used Saab I couldn't believe the value I got for the money. I payed $8500 for a 2000, (in 2005), and $6900 for a 1999 the next year, (totalled my first). The ride is comfortable, roomy, driving ... Read More...
Yes, thats a Malibu or Impala dash controls in your Saab
1986 900 SPG 1992 9000 Griffen 1999 Saab 9-5 V6 (no need, 4 is just as good) 2002 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon Thought I was sort of loyal to Saab, but the hell with them. Wanted to book a trip for Euro delivery, website says check back for 2009 models. Email, get a nasty response that GM's board says that this issue will not be answered again in an email (mind you, I am trying to buy ... Read More...
Head gasket issues
Close friend has same problem at 50K, 9-5, but the V-6 engine, 1999. She was not a hard driver either, and kept up with service intervals. Dealer got Saab to kick in portion of cost. Which engine do you have? Read More...
The cheapening of the 9-5
My 1999 9-5 has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. It has been troublefree, very comfortable, and gets great mileage out on the road. [always 30+ mpg going pretty fast] I had it in the shop for a check and the dealer gave me a 2007 to drive. What a disappointment! It seemed like the car had been seriously decontented. Cheap feeling plastic, flimsy feeling to ... Read More...
fuel pump going out??
I have a 1999 Saab 95, auto, 4 cylinder. I believe the fuel pump is going out. The car will sometimes stall at a stop light and when I stepped on the gas hard it sound/feels like it's stalling but gets going again!! I already checked the fuse, what else can it be? The car has of 100k on it and it's the original fuel pump. Read More...
Re: Belts and tensioners [massaab]
I'd do it if I were you. My tensioner just broke on my 1999 9-3, and it destroyed and melted the belt into other engine components. It cost me $1,200 to fix. My mechanic told me he saw the exact same thing last week on another 2000 Saab. So it's possible your dealer is silently saying "um, we have a problem with tensioners, and we recommend you replace yours before it ... Read More...
Saab/GM and customer service
Saab still makes great cars. I have had six of them, have four 9-5's right now: 2-1999; 1-2001; 1-2002. They are great cars, I love them. There is only one problem: GM. They are up to their old tricks when it comes to warranty and any customer service. Once a customer buys a Saab or any GM car, they become a legal liability in GM's eyes, and are treated as such. So here ... Read More...
Saab Issues and Comments
Hi: I have read the last few posts and as an many Saab owner would like to post a couple of thoughts. 1) I think the 9-5 platform (1999-present) (not the new ones, have not tried one yet) is one of the best platforms out. Resonable (fairly) in price, power, performance, etc. I have a 1999 9-5 V4 auto and manual and I like them both. Problems that I have seen are the displays ... Read More...
Re: why I like 2002-2003 Arc's
Most will recommend Aero but I like the softer ride and more comfy (for me) headrests, and lower price of the Arc/SE V-6. I like the 2002-2003 Arc's as they had many features (heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, weather channel, improved crash ratings, 5 speed automatic, great stereo, etc.) that were not available on the 1999-2001 or were "decontented" ... Purchasing Used and Undecided
Alrighty, perhaps someone could help me with my little debacle. I'm am considering purchasing a 1999 Saab 9-5 SE V6. I've read reviews, and I have driven this particular car. I love everything about the car. The one thing that is holding me back is whether or not this car will prove to be reliable. I'll be honest as say that I know very little about Saabs and any car ...
