Need advice on purchase decision for 2006 9-3 Convertible
I have recently test driven a Saab which previously wasn't on my short list. I am moving on from a Volvo and did not really want to get back into another luxury car due to the maintenance costs. But as much as I try, I am having a hard time not liking this car. I am concerned about a couple of things after reading several posts in the forum. What will the car be worth in five ... Too good to be true
My 2006 93 lease set to expire. Dealer desperate to sell me similar 2009 93. Willing to go as low as 22,500 on $31 MSRP or so and eat my last three payments. I know it makes mathematical sense. The resid value on the lease car is 17,500 or so. Still comes down to "Should I buy a Saab?" Any insights? Thanks. Read More...
The straw that broke the camels back
I had a 2003 Saab 9-3 linear up until this February with the odometer reading in at about 90,000 miles. I purchased the car for $17k at the end of 2006 with 58,000 miles on the odometer. The car had the following problems: surfacing to knobs was rubbing off (by the time of purchase), passenger side vent broke, rear brakes replaced twice, front brakes replaced once, ... Read More...
Reliability
We have a 2003 9-3 Linear (42k miles) which is really a fun car to drive (my wife particularly loves it). But I've almost had it with maintenance issues. Mechanically the car has performed almost flawlessly, but the lesser issues have begun to kill us. Here's what's gone wrong over the years: 1. 2003: TCS module went bad, replaced under warranty. 2. 2004 or 2005: ... Read More...

Re: Considering 2006 9-3 Aero with Manual [blp1]
blp1 - I would say that the price is a bit high for that car. If you look around, you can find a 2007-2008 with lower miles for the same price. I came across more than a few 2007-2008 models with anywhere from 8,000 miles to 20,000 miles for $18-$20k. Some were CPO, some were not - but as you said, the balance of the 4yr/50k warranty still applies. FWIW, I had been casually ... Read More...
Re: Considering 2006 9-3 Aero with Manual [blp1]
I purchased a 2006 Arc Convertible with a 5sp and 22,000 miles in January with a CPO warranty until 2012 for $17,200. I won't expect any resale on a Saab in a few years. Read More...
Considering 2006 9-3 Aero with Manual
Considering a 2006 9-3 Aero (steel gray) with 6 speed Manual transmission and 32,000 miles for $17,000. Only balance of 4 year / 50,000 mile warranty left. Looked at Vehix.com and other sites and thinh this is an ok deal but not spectactular. Tires are new and brakes are over half life. Car looks to be in spotless condition. Concerned with resale value if I have to ... Read More...
Re: 2007 Saab 93 rear brakes [saab88]
Hey Saab88, That's strange that those rear brake issues have already happened on a 2007...when I joined these forums before puchasing a used 2006 9-3 Aero (with only 2,000 miles on it) in February, 2008, everyone was bitching about the rear brakes going out to quickly. It didn't deter me from taking the Swedish plunge though. I now only have 14,500 miles on my Aero, ... Read More...
Re: Reliability? [iburgess]
We bought a 2006 9-3 Sportcombi Aero with all options except the roof rails. It is the fastest best performing car my wife and I have ever owned. She wanted a wagon and it had the 5 star IIHS crash test ratings. Consumer reports said run away based on availability but many people, here in fact, said not to put too much stock in CR. I now think these people were mistaken. ... Read More...
