Saab 9-3 Convertible

2002 or 2003

I am looking into a 9-3 2002 or 2003 convertible. As a new Saab fan, are there differences between the 2 years - I have heard that the 2003 convertible did not make as many changes as the 2004. The pricing for the '02 is about $2000 or more less than the '03 however the '02 has about 20,000 less miles I guess I am wondering what are the benefits of getting the '03 model even ... Saab 9-3 Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Don't hold an MBA, earned it, plus a BA in Management and Nursing

First, readers who want a Saab at a good price go to luxury motors on the net, click on the Saab symbol, look at MSRP and their price at Downers Grove Saab in Chicago. I bought one last week, they are great, largest Saab dealer I ever saw. I am 50 plus years of age, this is my fifth Saab and a so called Saab salesman attacks me and calls me a liar and that I made up a story. Please ... Read More...

Re: Price Paid/Buying Experience [saablcp]

I have explained in the the posting, I buy them for driving. Downers Grove Saab, view Luxury motors dot , then go to Downers grove Saab. I said the same thing, called and asked is this a mistake. You want a copy of the paperwork? I don't claim it, I did it. I am eligible for the GM supplier discount, but they would not accept it, for the price was below. Why won't you take ... Read More...

Saab 9-3 Lease Questions

Question about Saab depreciation

Hi, I'm posting this here because the people answering questions in this thread seem very knowledgeable . . . I'm considering a Saab 2002 9-3 SE and there's a huge difference between the KBB price ($9200) and the Edmunds price ($6500). This is for a private party sale for a car in good condition with 71,000 miles on it. I'm wondering which price is more realistic. Read More...

Saab 9-3 Reliability?

Warning! Change belt tensioner on Saabs

Have owned a SAAB 9-5 2000 wagon since 2002. Have just suffered catastrophic engine failure at 90k miles due to a failed belt tensioner. Dealer replaced timing belt at 60K and did not suggest that tensioner is just as likely to fail with same result. We would not buy a SAAB again. It's a part time job keeping this car on the road and the quality level is miserable. Seat ... Read More...

Article Comments - 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero XWD First Drive

Re: Article Comments - 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero XWD First Drive [mcclearyfl]

Those "solid black side moldings" conspicuously missing from the 2008 are the reason my 2002 is unmarked after 55K in an urban environment. Same here for my '99 9-5 with 120K and has not been a stranger to mall parking lots. But it looks like the '08 9-3 convertible pictured has body color side moldings. Reviewers always tend to cast aspersions on the quality of ... Read More...

Re: Article Comments - 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero XWD First Drive [KarenS]

Those "solid black side moldings" conspicuously missing from the 2008 are the reason my 2002 is unmarked after 55K in an urban environment. My other car, a 2003 Avalon, was introduced as a new model in 2005, again without side moldings. Guess what the #1 dealer-installed option became. Read More...

My Saab 9-3

I got my Saab 9-3 last October as my first car. I had been in love with its sharp, updated looks and sporty stance ever since it hit dealer lots in 2002 for the 2003 model year. I think it is a beautiful car, and it was one of very few cars on my list when I went looking to buy. It wasn't until I got into the "cockpit" on that overcast October day that I truly knew how much I loved ... Read More...

Saab 9-3 Convertible

Re: 2003 Saab 9-3 Convertible [jeep53]

Thanks for your info about the armrest you can purchase for the Saab 9-3 convertible. I looked at the site but it said for years 1999 thru 2002. I thought the '02's and '03's were the same interior but I might be wrong about that. I'm going to send the company a question about that. By the way, was it easy to intall and did it help much? Thanks again for your input. Read More...

Saab 9-3 Reliability?

Re: I tried to switch but I failed [r34]

Saab safety is legendary. The 9-3 and 9-5 didn't win 5-Stars top Safety award from IIHS for nothing...it is truely the safest car on the road money can buy... As far as the 9-3 reliability is concerned Model Year 2002 is the safest bet. 2002 is the last model year for the old style hatch and 02-03 for the convertible. 2002 is the most refined 93 of the classic body style. ...
