Coupe Over $60,000
Winner: 2007 Porsche 911
There are more luxurious coupes in this class and a few that are faster in a straight line, but the Porsche 911 delivers the complete package. Perfect steering, track-ready brakes and a suspension that feels better and better the harder you push it. All that and it's still comfortable enough to drive every day. There are more than a dozen variations of the 911, but the standard rear-wheel-drive Carrera coupe has all the capability you'll ever need. If that's not enough, consider this year's new additions to the lineup like the 480-horsepower 911 Turbo and the 911 GT3 RS weekend racer. And with literally hundreds of available options, you can customize any 911 to your exact specifications. As far as we're concerned, the 911 doesn't need much improvement.
Honorable Mention: 2007 BMW 6 Series
Unlike the performance-oriented Porsche 911, the BMW 6 Series isn't built for ripping corners on a Sunday morning. It can do a surprisingly good job of it, but long drives on straighter roads are this car's calling. It's a big car that gives you plenty of room to stretch out, and the ride is firm but comfortable. You get plenty of torque from the big V8 and it even sounds pretty good from the curb. And of course you can't forget about the M6. With 500 horsepower from its screaming V10 it's as fast as anything on the road, but even with all that power it's still not a pure sports car like the 911. If that's fine with you, the 6 Series won't disappoint.
