Coupe Under $60,000

2007 Porsche CaymanWinner: 2007 Porsche Cayman

How can you argue with a coupe that delivers the performance of a 911 for $10K less? You can't, and that's why the Cayman cleaned up in this category in its first year on the market. More than just a hardtop version of Porsche Boxster convertible, the Cayman is a pure sports car that can hold its own against exotics twice the price. The steering never strays from perfect, the brakes are flawless and the suspension stays glued to the ground so tight that even a mistake on your part won't throw it off. Factor in its classic Porsche styling and this coupe defines the term "most wanted."

Honorable Mention: 2007 BMW 3 Series

It may have lagged behind the sedan for a year, but the all-new BMW 3 Series coupe was worth the wait. The new styling works even better on the coupe, and with 300 horsepower available in the twin-turbo 335i, the top-of-the-line model is nearly as fast as the now discontinued M3. (Don't worry. It will be back in a big way next year.) A heavily revised chassis maintains BMW's legendary handling, steering and braking characteristics, and the interior has few faults. If not for the Cayman, the BMW 3 Series would have walked away with this category.
