Wagon Under $30,000

2007 Dodge Magnum Winner: 2007 Dodge Magnum

The rear-wheel-drive Dodge Magnum has been credited with winning families — and others — back to the wagon. With its contemporary, athletic good looks, Mercedes design influence and an available 340-horsepower Hemi V8, the Magnum also wins our Most Wanted award again this year. New for 2007 on the SXT and RT trims is an optional rear-seat DVD player — one more point in the wagon vs. minivan/SUV contest. Quiet, spacious, feature-filled and safe, the Magnum can't be beat for a combination of pleasure and practicality. If your head says "wagon" but your heart says "muscle car," opt for the grin-inducing 425-hp Magnum SRT-8, which features sport-tuned suspension and seats that grip you tight in the corners.

Honorable Mention: 2007 Subaru Impreza

The all-wheel-drive Subaru Impreza wagon, though not fully redesigned since 2002, still makes it onto our wish lists with its wide variety of trim levels — five, to be exact. While the base models are worth a look if you need an affordable snow vehicle, it's the high-performance Impreza WRX trims that get our motors running. With its turbocharged 230-horsepower engine and sport-tuned suspension, the Impreza WRX is a blast to drive, at a price that blows the doors off most of the competition.
