Sedan Over $60,000

2007 Audi A8Winner: 2007 Audi A8

The premium luxury sedan segment is rife with stellar vehicles, but Audi consistently jumps out in front by focusing on the basics. Take a solid platform, wrap it in a clean and attractive exterior shape, craft a sumptuous interior and motivate it via a powerful, refined drivetrain. The A8 brings these traits together in a model that offers all the technology target buyers need, while avoiding the complex control systems no true driver wants. Deciding between the capable 4.2-liter V8 or the exhilarating 6.0-liter W12 (available only in the long-wheelbase model) is a no-lose situation. Both feature confident handling and Audi's trademark Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Sometimes simple really is better.

Honorable Mention: 2007 Lexus LS 460

The technical resumé of the Lexus LS 460 reads like a Ray Bradbury novel. A keyless entry keycard that's actually the size and shape of a card. A climate control system that tracks occupant body temperature. A 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system capable of holding 4,000 songs on an internal hard drive. And if your neighbors still aren't impressed, let them just try to ignore the LS 460 as it parks itself. Beyond the science fiction aspect, this is the first time Lexus has offered its flagship sedan in two different wheelbase lengths, with the "L" version providing an additional 6 inches of rear legroom. Both versions come with an ultrarefined 4.6-liter V8, good for 380 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque.
