Editors' Most Wanted Vehicles for 2007

Sedan Under $35,000

2007 BMW 3 SeriesWinner: 2007 BMW 3 Series

Considering that BMW's 3 Series has held a spot on our Editors' Most Wanted list since the beginning of this contest in 1999, it's no big surprise that the 2007 version rears its beautiful entry-level hood here again. The 3 Series is BMW's top seller in the U.S., and for good reason -- endowed with world-class suspension, steering and brake components, these cars have an ability to communicate with their drivers that is unmatched in the entry-level luxury class and, indeed, unmatched by most cars at any price. And with a major redesign in 2006 which brought new features, more powerful engines and a slightly larger interior, the 3 Series is unbeatable in this category.

Honorable Mention: 2007 Infiniti G35

The Infiniti G35 has been trying to catch up and surpass BMW's 3 Series for years but this time the 2007 model, which rides on an updated version of the FM platform (like the M35/M45), gets closer than ever. Infiniti may have left the car's size, layout and winning combination of luxury, performance and price essentially unchanged, but every other aspect of the vehicle is improved. With an "80-percent new engine," more horsepower and a competitive manual gearbox as well as a new suspension, body and interior, the all-new G35 is destined to continue on as an affordable mainstay of entry-level luxury.
