2007 Hyundai AzeraWinner: 2007 Hyundai Azera

If you thought Korean cars were cheap econoboxes, think again. The 2007 Hyundai Azera may not have a luxury nameplate, but it delivers plenty of high-end features and performance. With a relatively low price, the Azera offers a powerful 3.8-liter V6 engine capable of 263 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of torque, making it the quickest Hyundai to date. First-rate interior materials and an extensive list of features mean the Azera stacks up well against other large front-wheel-drive rivals such as the Toyota Avalon and Buick Lucerne. Offering a smooth, quiet ride and strong brakes, the Hyundai Azera is worth a good long look if you are shopping in this category.

Honorable Mention: 2007 Chrysler 300

Chrysler hasn't forgotten that Americans love big, roomy, rear-wheel-drive family sedans. With a long list of safety features and plenty of luxury-level amenities, the 2007 Chrysler 300 is an excellent value at this price level. The base Chrysler 300 offers bold styling mated to a 2.7-liter V6 engine that produces 190 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. A more expensive SRT-8 version is also available if you want more power, with a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 engine capable of 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. A great-looking, masculine sedan, the 300 is a real standout in this category. We hope Chrysler inspires other American automakers to follow its lead.
