Most Wanted Wagon Under $25,000
Interactive Vehicle Tour What's This?

2006 Dodge MagnumWinner: Dodge Magnum

This year's winner proves that practicality and good looks can coexist in one affordable package. This head-turner taps into America's nostalgia for the wagon but adds a definite performance slant. With its available 340-horsepower V8, or choice of two V6s, this all-new station wagon delivers 27.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats or 72 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Its interior styling gives the Magnum a contemporary look with a two-tone color scheme, faux aluminum accents and white-faced gauges. With massive amounts of torque flowing to its rear wheels and plenty of Mercedes-derived chassis components, the Magnum provides serious fun for driving enthusiasts-turned-parents.

Honorable Mention: Audi 3

The new A3's combination of driving fun, sensible footprint and nimble driving character convinced us to award it an enthusiastic honorable mention. The A3 expands the Audi brand's appeal to entry-luxury buyers. There are 13.1 cubic feet of luggage with the rear seat in place; 36 cubic feet with the seats down. The heart of the A3 is a 2.0T FSI engine that offers 207 lb-ft of torque from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm, and 200 horsepower at 5,100 rpm. Power is fed through Audi's six-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox), or the standard six-speed manual. The ride is comfortably firm, and handling is just as sporty as its larger siblings. Bigger isn't always better, and if the A3 meets your needs for interior utility, expect a bargain of a sport luxury ride.
