Most Wanted Large Truck

2005 Nissan TitanWinner: Nissan Titan

After being named our Most Significant Vehicle of the Year for 2004, the Titan is back and relatively unchanged for 2005. The powerful 5.6-liter Endurance V8 is still the only engine available and it delivers a notable balance of smooth around-town operation and impressive towing capacity. Four doors are standard on both extended and crew cab models, and the Titan's interior is spacious and functional with ample storage and plenty of passenger room. Trim levels are broken down into XE, SE and LE levels, with the top rung of the ladder offering luxury-car level amenities, including power leather seats, adjustable pedals and a Rockford-Fosgate stereo system. Notable options like a sunroof, spray-in bedliner, adjustable tie-downs and even a DVD-navigation system make this a full-size truck that's hard to ignore.

Honorable Mention: Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500

Still the king of big-truck attitude, the Ram can handle the diverse duties of comfortable daily driver and capable workhorse with equal aplomb. Big-rig styling and a spacious interior have been Dodge hallmarks since this version was introduced in 1999, yet nimble handling and a comfortable ride make the Ram truly standout from the pack. The 3.7 V6 and 4.7 V8 are now available with either six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions, and the 5.7 Hemi is optional for those who crave extra power. New options for 2005 include a power sunroof and satellite radio, and the 500-hp SRT-10 is now available as a quad cab. Offering a wide array of positive features with few compromises, it's easy to see why the Ram is consistently at the top of our shortlist.
