Most Wanted Wagon Over $35,000

2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class WagonWinner: Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon

E-Class wagons feature a sleek and dignified design inside and out, a pleasing blend of ride and handling and optional all-wheel drive. Available with either a capable V6 or a downright vigorous V8, the E-Class wagon makes an excellent touring car. As a family hauler, safety is a concern and shoppers won't be disappointed. In IIHS frontal offset crash testing, it was named a "Best Pick" in its class. Despite our minor quips of a confusing control layout and electronically controlled brakes that lack a progressive feel, its combination of excellent driving dynamics, numerous safety and luxury features and high style make the E-Class one of our favorites.

Honorable Mention: Audi allroad

It may have lost some of its rugged looks, but Audi's sport wagon still has enough of what we like to make it attractive. Devised as an alternative to bulky SUVs, the allroad combines the practicality of a wagon with the all-weather prowess of an SUV. The recent addition of optional V8 power gives it the kind of punch that few other wagons can match. Inside, it's all Audi as the allroad's interior is covered from head to toe in top-quality materials that will make you forget you're driving such a practical vehicle. If you need a wagon but don't want something too traditional, the allroad is the answer.
