Most Wanted Wagon Under $45,000

Audi A6 Avant Winner: Audi A6 Avant

Though the A6 Avant has been around for awhile, it still offers well-rounded performance and all the features you would expect in a luxury wagon. Like all Audis, the interior sports a stylish design and high-quality materials that feel as good as they look. There's plenty of room for passengers and cargo along with numerous safety features as standard equipment. Add in Audi's perfected quattro all-wheel-drive system and an ultrasmooth V6 and it's easy to see why the A6 makes a great family vehicle. Not everyone needs a luxurious wagon, but for those who do the A6 Avant fills the bill nicely.

Honorable Mention: Saab 9-5 Wagon

Though the sedan version of the 9-5 gets knocked in comparison to its competition, it works very well as a wagon. Available in Aero, Arc and Linear versions, it packs a smooth turbo punch with a 2.3-liter, inline four-cylinder engine. Carrying on the legacy of Swedish safety, Saab equips the wagon with Electronic Stability Program, adaptive front force airbags and an IIHS nomination of "Best Pick" for overall crashworthiness. Unlike its Swedish automotive brethren, it offers a nonboxy yet sleek and sexy styling. With a long list of standard features and a plush highway ride, the 9-5 wagon should be on shoppers' shortlists.
