Most Wanted Large Truck
Winner: Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra
In the world of full-size trucks, GM has it covered. Whether you're into Chevrolet's Silverado or GMC's "professional grade" Sierra, both sport new looks and new features. With engines ranging from a 4.3-liter V6 to the 8.1-liter big-block, you'll rarely be at a loss for power. There are also three different cab styles that assure just the right amount of room inside. This year, expanded availability of the industry-exclusive Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system and revised interiors that are more comfortable and feature-laden have put the Silverado and Sierra on top.
Honorable Mention: Dodge Ram
When the all-new half-ton Ram debuted last year, we were impressed. We liked its bold exterior, comfortable interior and carlike ride and handling. Now that the new heavy-duty version is available, the Ram lineup is even more impressive. The return of the Hemi V8 and the introduction of an even more powerful Cummins turbodiesel give the Ram some major league muscle. Add in an ultrastrong hydroformed frame, the largest four-wheel disc brakes in its class and the first ever side curtain airbags in a pickup, and it's easy to see why we think these new Rams are worth a look.
