Most Wanted Wagon Under $35,000

Audi A4 Winner: Audi A4

We've been smitten by the A4 since it was introduced in 1995. Redesigned just last year, the A4 Avant offers much: the quattro all-wheel-drive system, a reasonable amount of cargo space, a classy interior laden with amenities and precise handling and steering. Choose either the 1.8T trim, which has a 170-horsepower turbocharged inline four, or the 3.0 with its 3.0-liter 220-horsepower V6. The A4 is luxurious, sporty, winterproof and more affordable than its competition from BMW and Mercedes. It's also one of the most stylish wagons you can buy. As such, it's our favorite entry-luxury wagon.

Honorable Mention: Saab 9-5

Looking for some individuality? Try the 9-5 luxury wagon from Saab. The three trim levels each come with their own engine. You can get the Linear with a 2.3-liter turbocharged 185-hp four-cylinder engine, the Arc with a 3.0-liter turbocharged 200-hp V6 or the Aero with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 250 hp. A host of safety features includes the state-of-the-art airbag system, traction control and ABS. Saab 9-5 wagons are some of the roomiest in the class with 73 cubic feet of cargo room and adjustable tie-downs to secure loose items. Drive this car and you won't get lost in the crowd.
