Most Wanted Sedan Under $35,000

BMW 3 Series Winner: BMW 3 Series

How do we love the BMW 3 Series? Let us count the ways. Whether sprinting down straightaways or tackling twisties, the 3 Series manages to impart a level of communication with the tarmac rarely found in cars in the same class. The 325i and 325xi are motivated by a 2.5-liter inline six that makes 184 horsepower; more juice is available with the 330i and the 330xi, which are powered by a 225-hp 3.0-liter engine. If you're looking for a sedan that delivers first-class ride and handling traits in a great overall package, the 3 Series deserves a spot at the top of your list.

Honorable Mention: Audi A4

The A4 has worked wonders for Audi in terms of brand revitalization ever since it first hit U.S. shores in 1995, and it's easy to see why; this is a sedan that excels on virtually all fronts. Its sheet metal is a study in clean, understated elegance. And those lucky enough to score a place for themselves within its cabin will find an interior that's supremely well-appointed. The 1.8T is motivated by a 170-horsepower turbocharged inline four and the 3.0 gets its kick from a smooth 220-hp V6. Yes, the A4 had to content itself with runner-up status in this category. But sometimes second best is good enough.
