Most Wanted Coupe Under $35,000

BMW 3 Series Winner: BMW 3 Series

With the 3 Series, we sometimes feel like L.A. Lakers fans, constantly talking up the strengths of the overdog. In this case, those strengths are impressive structural integrity, a ripping inline six that loves to be taken to redline, an utterly composed chassis, communicative steering and powerful yet easily modulated brakes. Although the 3 possesses sports car-level dynamics, it takes no time at all to get comfortable in the cockpit. A multiadjustable driver seat, simple gauges and an easy-on-the-eyes body mean you'll be able to enjoy this car's entertaining personality within minutes of taking the wheel.

Honorable Mention: Infiniti G35

Infiniti is banging on BMW's door in a big way with this car. Like the G35 sedan, the coupe is a rear-drive athlete, but its level of fitness is even higher. With a lower and wider stance, the G coupe feels absolutely united with the road when pushed. Power is not a problem; there's 280 hp on tap from the 3.5-liter V6 engine. An easy-shifting six-speed manual and responsive steering add to the joy of piloting the G35 coupe, and topping things off is a price that considerably undercuts much of the competition.
