Winner: Ford Econoline

For sheer people-hauling ability, it doesn't get any better than a domestically built van/wagon. And although sales of large vans are heavily biased towards commercial use, the Edmunds.com staff would choose Ford's Econoline if given the choice. The current lineup is quite extensive. Depending on what version you pick, the Econoline can haul between seven to 15 passengers and tow from 4,700 to 10,000 pounds. For engines, the main gasoline choices are a 5.4-liter V8 with 255 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque, or a 6.8-liter V10 with 305 horsepower and 420 foot-pounds of torque. There's also a myriad of options and configurations to choose from, ensuring that you can find the exact model to match your needs.
