Small Coupe
Winner: Honda Civic
Hey there, old man. In an amazing display of virility, the Honda Civic once again made the Edmunds.com Most Wanted list. By far the oldest car on our list (the current Civic platform dates back to 1996), the Civic Coupe continues to impress us with numerous attributes. Despite a higher initial price than many other cars, the Civic makes up for it with a superior reputation for reliability. The DX and HX are the two entry-level models, the main difference between the two being the HX's more fuel-efficient engine. The Civic Coupe EX features a 127-horsepower VTEC, plus goodies like standard air conditioning, a CD player, and a moonroof. While the coupe's styling is still attractive, the main charge leveled against Civics in general is that they are rather boring. Honda's answer to that is the Civic Si. Available only in the coupe body style, the Si packs a 160-horsepower engine, a stiffer suspension, special 15-inch wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. With MSRPs ranging from $12,680 for a DX Coupe to $17,545 for a Si, the Civic Coupe continues to be one of the best small cars on the market.
