Sports Car $10,000-$25,000

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Winner: Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (twins - Pontiac Firebird Formula and Trans Am)

Pure muscle characterizes this trio from General Motors. A 305-horsepower rip-snorting 5.7-liter V8 is housed beneath the long, low hood, optimally connected to a six-speed manual transmission. Power is transmitted to rear wheels that can smoke the tires with little provocation. Interiors are dank and cheaply outfitted, the price you pay for such inexpensive performance. Exteriors are sleek on the Camaro and in-your-face on the Firebird. Neither car would ever qualify as sophisticated or refined. But the charm here lies in brute force, not finesse. Sadly, GM is considering killing these slow-selling pony cars. Get 'em while you can.
