2002 Luxury Convertibles Under $55,000 Comparison Test
Conclusion
By Liz Kim

As we said in the beginning, for those of you who are familiar with our proclivities, it will have come as little surprise that another BMW won a comparison test. What did shock us was the point spread between first and second place, and several editors' opinions that they would have preferred the BMW over even high-end vehicles.

The 330Ci represents the very pinnacle of design and engineering, with very little compromise between road handling and comfort. The Volvo may arouse little passion, but it'll have everything you want to ensure an occupant's every comfort. The Thunderbird charmed with its slick styling and surprising level of performance, but its relative lack of necessary features relegated it to third place. As for the Saab, it may have its weaknesses, but it'll always have a loyal following comprised of those who walk to the beat of a different drum.

Do yourself a favor. Get (rent or buy) one of these cars. Load up on the SPF 30, get out onto a road whose beauty matches that of the hunny perched in the passenger seat and preen in the warmth of the sun. You'll feel differently about life. Convertibles will do that to you.
